There is a way to retrofit the e locker and wire it, guys put them into older pickups all the time. Google it and check up on Yotatech too.

It blinks before it fully engages. It turns solid once it's fully activated.

Best bet is to find a little dirt & push your diff button & make slow right/left hand turns (circles even) so the diff gears line up & mesh, should/might hear a click , light goes solid, boom, you're locked....:)

it may take a few turns to do it...

if you use it about 2 dozen times it gets loose and will engage quicker
and smoother as time goes on....my first five attempts the thing never
wanted to go in, and when it did, it was with a LOUD kerrrang! now it is
mostly quiet and engages right away without missing a synchro opportunity

Check the wiring ya did. See if the ground wire came off

It may be deeper than that...might be a burnt relay, may be the solenoid is burnt at the actuator by the differential.
Check fuses that have to do with the solenoid.
    Good luck.

confused with this a little bit ... the mod "locks" the rear end so that both tires spin rather than one?

No, the mod let's you use the locker (Which locks the rear end so both wheels spin) In 2 wheel drive or 4WD Hi instead of just 4WD Low

So unless you install a switch to the grey wire your rear end will be locked in 2wd no matter what ?
