This weekend, I finally got the projects done, the garage cleaned/somewhat organized, and got a couple coats of paint on the new workbench I've been posting about recently.

Had to finish this project before I could start cleaning. It's a stage for a volunteer thing my fiancé and I participated in on Saturday. They were doing a bedroom makeover for a little girl who is less fortunate. She wanted a stage for a stool and a microphone.

Here's the perimeter of the base. I added a few cross braces after this.

looks good man. hopefully I can get a shed built in the backyard in the spring and have an area for tools and such (garage barely fits the truck and car).

We started our remodel of the main bathroom. The bathroom had wallpaper that we didn't care for:
    wallpaper19.jpg

    wallpaper20.jpg

We took all the wallpaper down, primered the wall, put some orange peel texture on it and started painting one side of the wall, and around the top of the shower, a metallic silver.

I removed the toilet and we're going to replace it with a Kohler Cimarron. The old toilet was in decent shape but it was an original and used about 7 gallons per flush. Even though it was 7 gallon, it didn't flush that strongly. The new Kohler is 1.2 gallons per flush and gets decent reviews. We were looking on line at Home Depot and it was listed on sale for $279. However, in the store, it was $229.

    Here's the paint so far.
    BathroomRedo1.jpg

    BathroomRedo2.jpg

    To Do:
We're going to put in some Home Depot Allure flooring. It's cheap so even if we want to replace it later, we're not out that much. We're going to try black trim. I bought some 4.5" base moulding. I'll trim it to fit and then we'll paint it black. We've already removed the door, the trim around the door, the vanity doors and the medicine cabinet doors and painted them black.

We're also going to put the Faux Stacked Stone on the wall by the sink & toilet.

Did a little bit of preventative maintenance today. Drained out the hot water heater (found sediment at the bottom so it's good I did...

Also got tired of the tiny silverware drawer... for some reason all of our drawers are odd sized. it was impossible to find a functional silverware tray so I made an insert for it instead. pics on that one to come later.

Good idea. I usually drain mine a few times in the winter when I use the hot water to wash my truck. Keeps my hands warm :D.

What is the reason to drain the hot water heater? Just to clear it out and get some fresh water in it?

Looks a lot better. I've been working on my dining room. Had 2 layers of wall paper. First layer came off easily, second layer is on bare drywall and is a really thin paper. Had to get an orbital sander to sand the wallpaper off. What a pita

You ever see the mineral build up in a tea kettle or anything else that holds water all the time when you have hard water? Need to flush that shit out now and then. Heating elements work better when not coated too.
