I agree with the identity thing. Couldn't agree more that for a lot of people its about that once a year trip to the Globe Traveller Expo(making that up, hope its not a real thing) to show off their new RTT that they've opened up once in their driveway but for some reason still drive around with it on top of their truck year round.

Don't get me wrong, I love that there is so much innovation happening in the industry to provide some seriously cool equipment that can make life on our small adventures a whole lot more interesting and convenient. I own some of those cool things and do I like them? Hell yes. So I don't want to discourage people from getting any of that cool stuff, but get it if it helps you get out there and explore more and you actually use it.

I can't fault guys like the XOverland crew. They've got a dream job for most of us. And even though their videos are probably an advertisement for a lot of products, at least they are working hard at getting out there and using all of it. I won't fault anyone for having the latest and greatest and most expensive equipment when they're actually using it. Not just having it for show.

I have to admit that I don't get out as often as I wish. Life gets busy and until the day comes that I can walk away from my day job with endless amounts of cash to travel where I want and put some serious mileage on all of my equipment, I'll just be stuck like most of us trying to scrape by and make ends meet. And find a few weekends and a couple longer weeks during the year if I'm lucky to go find somewhere new that I've never taken my family before.

Heard that. And yeah, Im not knocking the Exoverland crew either, they have an awesome gig and are super-talented film makers.

and bad sound guys!! :frusty: seriously..audio in their movies is..pathetic..could be cleaned up sooooo much better and it would be easy to do. Hope they fix that soon.

I agree though that some stuff is so pricey..why?? its sad really..

But who cares as long as people keep adventuring

its pretty funny to see that the expo/overland crowd has bought into the "fashion" scene along with the "tactical" shooting fashion scene. Earth tones, khaki, fleece.

I personally dont see anything wrong with letting someone dress the way they want to though :)

Now I just need to travel back in time a little bit and start a super cool khaki/fleece company and call it "tactical expo shooters extreme khaki clothing company for the off road enthusiast who likes to shoot guns and get chicks".

Haha!!!!!! That made my morning! I refuse to wear floppy hats! I do own a lot of khaki and olive drab green but that's just left over from my Marine Corps stuff. I agree that that kind of clothing seems to be the scene for adventuring but like stated before, my Marine Corps gear will outlast just about anything on the market and I spend more e'er e time out than most so I need that durability..but seriously let's see What we can do about that time machine :D

Got my hoops finished up and painted today. Trying to work a deal right now on craigslist for a Yakima Megawarrior basket w/Extension. Any thoughts? Was planning to mount that on top of the bed rack.

I'm looking into the Baja rack setup. It is a little more low profile. If I were to get the Megawarrior it's made to sit on top of my Yakima bars witch just seems too high in the air. But then again just mounting them on your bed cage might work out nice. And a good Craigslist deal is always nice. :)

Damn she did you get the rack over the soft topper!! Looks bad ass!

I'd put the baja rack on the roof

RTT on the bed rack  would be cool

If you intend to buy outdoor clothing... why not buy earthtone? It is easy to match. Half my backpacking/outdoor clothing is earthtone theme and half is black/grey/red. I like to match a little... call it vanity. Here is an outfit from my trip from Texas to Colorado, where my GF and I drove the Tacoma and spent 3 days and nights backpacking in Rocky mountain natl park. Is this so earthtone I look like a pouser? I find most dece.t outdoor clothing is earthtone... I don't see why that is so bad. Heck to me the pouser part of camping is "car camping" anyway which is why the overland thing does not resonate with me. I left the Tacoma at the trail head.

Yeah I like the BAJA Racks low profile. For a basket as large as the Warrior it would be pretty expensive. Right now I'm trying to get the CL deal for $350 for Warrior + Extension.

Yeah I was considering that option myself...but monies is tight. But a RTT would be awesome. Then I'd really have to get out more often to make use of it.
