Mega actually make some of the best bang for the buck lowers and uppers out there. Excellent finish, they have a tension screw to deal with any slop and I've found their tolerances are held much tighter than a lot of other companies forged receivers. Which is why I use them for my upscaled custom builds.

Btw yes a mil spec lower is a mil spec lower but some lowers go beyond mil spec such as the adjustable tension screw for instance.

You can't go wrong with Mega. I've used them on quite a few builds over the years. I also like Stag Arms. They both have great CS.

Mega tends to make billet lowers for other companies and they are a quality piece, just understand billet is a bit heavier, but honestly look awesome in my opinion. I am going over to turners to look at one now.

Mega makes great lowers. They make billet and forged, the price you have there is most likely one of their forged ones.

I wish I could buy a Mega lower for $110, I have a project right now in need of one, and all that we have locally is S&W lowers (which I am off to retrieve monday..)

there are a lot of companies that make 308s on an ar platform.. Bushmaster, armalite, LMT, and many more, it really just depends on your budget. Most of thoses have pretty much interchangeable parts.

Here is a bushmaster 308 I got and upgraded some parts on the general LR-308 platform.

dad got a cmmg lower for me and brand i don't recognize for him.
dad said that the guy at the gun shop said if he wants to run a different calibre upper on his lower it needs to be stamped multi-calibre, is this true?

No. In fact, the ATF doesn't accept "multi" as a caliber description if you try to register it as an NFA wepon on a From 1. You need to specify.

Think of all the 22 rimfire conversions out there for pistols. Think they're illegal because the receiver isn't stamped "multi"?

i didn't think so, at least they didn't rip him off, for the multi-cal lower it was 130, for mine it was 150.
    10 days to go.

One caveat - I noticed you're in CA. Up to you to know your screwy state laws. I can't keep up on all the insane hoops you guys have to jump through. Sounds like something that CA would pass...

    No.

Stick to the names in the industry. DD, PSA, CMMG..... No Jimmie Sue's Premium AR Kit if you want quality parts.

didn't notice this post till now, ok, so if dad wanted to get a suppressor he couldn't use that lower to apply for it.

i was thinking about that but not 22 conversions, i was thinking about the caliber x-change kits from sig, and the m&p 40-357 sig conversions.

The suppressor is the "firearm" You don't pair it to anything when you fill out the form 4.
