I understand that it may not be worth it but having grown up in a military family and seeing the faces of the mothers and fathers of soldiers who have died and have had the WBBC protest just is a disgrace.

Wouldn't it be worth it to prevent shit like this from happening? Or at least have some sort of armed guard at every school.

Training is good. In fact if we did weapons safety courses i think there would be less violent crimes and way less accidental deaths.

Just wanted to show that there are crazies in Canada as well, and crazy shit does happen and eventhough there are more restrictive gun laws, this is a situation where I think anyone would want to protect themselves. But there still is more shit that goes down in the US and there really is no reason for it. To be born in the US is an extremely fortunate circumstance. Most people don't realize what the developing world goes through on a daily basis. Yet people here act like their issues are so bad and their life is so unfair they need to seek revenge for how bad they have it.

I've always thought that every citizen should be a basic first responder. If anything goes down, anyone and everyone should know the very basics, at least IMO.

I would agree , but I would also suggest that guns are a huge part of your society when compared to ours

I appreciate that , but I stand by my comment that having to go back that far to find anything of any shock value says something about the perceptions that we are unsafe because we can't carry firearms

Could be true. Part of it is also how the media reports and makes these criminals famous.

This whole situation would have been over when someone in the office that whas trained pulled the school gun and shot this idiot while he was climbing through the window!

I don't think Canadians are unsafe because you can't carry firearms. In fact I picture Canada as some utopia of awesome healthcare, maple syrup, people that say "eh" and an occasional hockey fight.

Here in the US however, we would be much less safe if guns were banned.
Also it is our constitutional right. The 2nd amendment guarantees it. In fact there was a recent Supreme court decision which stated that the right to "bear" arms does not mean "keep" arms but it means "carry" arms for self defense. The court agreed that the right to self defense did not end at the doorstep and someone walking the street in a dangerous neighborhood was more in need of a firearm than someone in their relatively safe home.
This decision was precedent for the 7th Circuit Courts to overturn Chicago's unconstitutional gun laws last week.

Yop. I hate to admit it.... but "assult" weapons do give these freaks a sense of power. Problem is, if the reinstate a assult weapons ban, what does that do with the millions out there already? I think a useful law would be a federal mandate that says if one wants to utilize the right to bare and keep arms. Then the must have a weapons safe that must be used when ever the weapon is out of sight.

Agreed. High ranking school officals should carry a firearm.

Good for them...its too bad thats all those assholes got. I never even heard of those people before, but they piss me off more than the whole incident! Its not bad enough for someone to go kill little kids and their teachers, so now these people have to go support it at the funeral?!

I understand that and am not suggesting a gun ban anymore than I would suggest we ban guns here

That is unconstitutional, see my post above.

As for "Assault Weapons", what makes the black gun more dangerous than the wood one?
