quick question for everybody, if you could help me out.. I'm getting new tires on my 2010 tacoma and i was wondering does new tires disable the tire pressure monitoring system(tpms) in my truck?

I thought 65 is a lot with any size car ive pulled and Load Range E tires. Only in the diesel ive run it that high and when towing I never went above 45psi in my tacoma. I dont see what would be wrong..the tires can handle...with the extra weight keeping more air in the tires might be better for towing but i'd definitely keep the air down if I had to tow at low speeds on gravel roads.

My KM2's (Load E) have a max capacity of 80 PSI, but I run them at 35 PSI for regular driving. The jokers who installed mine had one of my fronts at 32 and the other front at 50. I'm glad I checked my tire pressure on the way home and fixed it. Anyway, I don't see any situation where, even on Load E's, Tacoma's should be running them above 50, much less 65-80. I'm not a tower, so I have no idea how that works with tire pressure and the like, but 65 does seem like a heck of a high number.

Here is a formula that I like.

    Weight of vehicle
--------------------------- x Max tire PSI as indicated on sidewall
    Tire max load rating (lbs)
    multiplied by 4

I am running 255/85/16 E rated KM2's (the guys that installed them had them at 65 psi!).

I weigh about 5500lbs with just me and the few tools and gear I always have in the Tacoma. They are rated at 3415 @ 80 psi on the side wall. 3415x4=13660 so:

    5500
    -------- x 80 = 32 psi, which is what I run at.
    13660

You can get even more technical with this formula by doing different numbers for the front and rear, but I don't know what the individual weights are.

Also after driving continuously for 15-20 minutes (especially on the interstate) your tires will warm up and typically increase as much as 5 psi. That is taken account of in the formula, since the tires are rated for cold psi, but just something to think about when you are guesstimating at what to run your tires at.

Is the front moldings on your Racks flush to the roof of the truck? I installed the OEM roof rack myself and mine are not, much more gap on the driver side than passenger. Just worried of leaks. Considering maybe added 3M tape underneath it so it stays flush

It's a low limit, or 10psi difference between any two tires.

Huh that's weird. I would suggest the 3m adhesive tape first. I can't stress how bad silicone is for your vehicle. It may be fine on top for now but if you ever need to remove its a huge bitch to take off. Most definitely will be scraping the paint trying to remove it from the roof. The word of silicone is though if you ever have any painting done to your vehicle if the silicone fumes mix with with paint you'll get solvent popping or fish eyes. Looks like shit. I would say do whatever you can before using silicone...nasty stuff
