The needle bearing is more related to the CV axle.
East Coast Gear Supply makes a PTFE coated bushing to replace that bearing. But I don't think replacing the internals for the diff will fix that growl...

The ARB front locker does cure the front diff growl. The OE needle bearing is not used with the ARB locker.

    2010 Tacoma, sold...

I just replaced my needle bearing with the PTFE and it is in the housing of the diff, not the carrier. Although the carrier is made of a better quality, and the spider gear wont be able to move as much. I would replace the Bearing while you have the diff out, since you will have to pull your cv to pull the third out anyways...

GL, wish I had the $$ for a locker :D

Incorrect. The problematic needle bearing is indeed in the carrier. Take a look at ECGS's video. Or, I can pull my old carrier out of the box in my garage and take pictures for you.

The ARB diff replacement makes the ECGS bushing completely unneeded.

In fact, I'm willing to bet that ECGS used ARB's bushing as the basis for their design.
