    While we're on the subject....

I've watched people making burgers and they turn out like SHIT cause they beat the meat to a pulp. Wow, that sounded way dirtier than I intended.

What I mean is, when you get your hamburger into the mixing bowl and you're going to add stuff, be very, very gentle and basically 'fold to combine'. Don't mash the hell out of it and turn it into 'meat paste'.

Not accusing anyone here, just a point that I think isn't made enough. Don't beat the hell out of your proteins. Eggs, burgers, whatever. When you whale the tar out of them they lose some of the very properties you're wanting to use them for, not to mention the consistency and taste can be effected.

    /the more you know

New favorite snack: Broccoli Salad :broccoli:
    For 2 servings:
1 cup fresh, raw broccoli. Chopped
1/2 cup shredded carrots (I cheat and buy the precut bags)
    1/4 cup Craisins (or raisins)
    1/4 cup walnuts. Chopped
1/4 cup sweet, red onion (optional)
2 strips bacon cooked, cooled and crumbled
salad dressing (I prefer Kraft Poppyseed but you could use coleslaw or honey mustard or....)

Chop up the broccoli and walnuts or throw it in a food processor. Toss broccoli, carrots, craisins, walnuts, onion and bacon together in a bowl and mix in a bit of salad dressing. Toss until everything is mixed well and coated with the dressing. :hungry:

there's like a million recipes for it. this is the one I have recently settled on as my favorite. Its so good because you have a little bit of sweet, sour, salty, crunchy, creamy, bacony goodness in every bite!

HMMM...never tried it with cheese before. I wonder what parmesan or asiago would be like?

Various ingredients I have tried in broccoli salad:
    golden raisins
    almonds
    olives
    cucumbers

Broccoli, bacon, carrots, craisins, & walnuts seems to be the best combo IMO

I make my own dressing when I make it. Apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt and pepper and mayo. Pretty much like a coleslaw dressing.

I have to make a salad to bring to work for our holiday party and am in a rut.

Help? Do you guys have dressing recipes that go great with particular "add-ins" or types of greens? It can't have meat in it and no added sugar (some honey is OK though). I am pretty sure cheese is fine because my vegan coworker fell off the wagon, so to speak.

    TIA!
