oil filter cross reference?

looking for part number of the wallymart brand "supertech" oil filter that fits my 06 with the V6.
what about mobil1 or bosch?

^I would. Purolator PureOne is one of the best performing out there. Check the filter studies. Or maybe someday I'll have access to a scanner and I can post the years of oil study reports that I have.

The parts guy at the local Toyota Dealership commented the Toyota filter has an oil retention component built into the Toyota filter that other non-OEM filters may not. I am not a filter expert so take this for what it's worth... If you stick with Toyota filters and ever have an oil related failure, your warrany will never be questioned. The cost is under $5 / filter. Any filter experts out there have any comments?

• A bypass valve, which alleviates restricted oil flow in the event of a clogged filter.
• An anti-drainback valve, which prevents oil from draining out of the engine and into the oil pan, helping to protect your engine from increased wear during cold starts.
• A filter element which effectively filters contaminants and maintains the engine's lubrication capability during the maintenance interval. By comparison, a lesser quality filter element might clog during Toyota's recommended maintenance interval leading to engine wear, seizure or other problems. Toyota recommends changing your oil filter and motor oil every 5,000 miles or 6 months.

its not the m1-109 that fits, its the

$15 m1-102 / M1-102A extended performance oil filter

m1-102 and for more oil capacity its the m1-209.......a bit of a bigger filter that will flow more oil than oem.

yes,definitely, these days most all oil filters have an anti-drain valve.

 

For what it’s worth, the Mobil 1 definitely feels heavier in weight.. so they must be using heavier/sturdier? materials. Not sure how much that matters in oil filtering though

 

Most Walmart’s also stock o.e. Toyota filters now.

 

Good point. Just noticed. You think the oe or the Mobil one? I’mgetting Mobil 1 full synthetic for the oil so thought I’d match the filter

 

Personally I always use oe filters on my tacoma. Occasionally I’ll use wix on some of my other vehicles.
