just about anytime water is on exposed steel it will rust

it also depends on the de-icer that they put down which will be dictated by the conditions. Most of the time they use mag-chloride. As long as you give your truck a rinse every now and then and don't let it build up it shouldn't cause any harm. If you leave it on there, you could get some corrossion. I haven't seen any rust from it though.

Yeah I don't worry to much on my runner just spray it off every now and again. I spray my wife's car off all the time if its been on the ground but its a new car and I'd like to keep it that way

So I'm back in Cali for a month and am leaving my truck in FoCo.
Do you think it would be a good idea to have my roommate start it up once a week and let the juices flow? I'm not sure what y'all normally do in long durations of cold weather.

Make sure the tank is full...once every week or two. Nothing wrong with letting the fluids move around

id have him take it for a lap of the freeway once a week or so

given my only experience with leaving a rig somewhere for a while without starting it was my 94 accord in the middle of summer in ca ... battery was dead after a month but otherwise it seemed fine

I would empty the tank as much as possible. Take the battery out and put it somewhere with a stable temp. Do an oil change when you get back before you drive it.

I remember the media advising a coupe of years back that you should top off the fuel tank to prevent it from freezing? They of course, may have been wrong.

It's cool it has Vimeo, Netflix, Hulu plus, your iTunes, you can rent movies in JD from iTunes. I like it, you have to pay for the iTunes Match $25 a year to get your music to transfer and what not.

I could see that in older cars where the tank does not seal completely.

What the hell did Apple put it on sale or something? All of you are getting it. But $25 to have the music I own on another device seems a bit wrong. I can just link my TV to my PC now and all of my music on my external harddrive is playable. Or if I want to hear stuff I don't own I have Pandora. Love that app. :)

Well it's not just for that its for streaming everything. I can stream from TV to computer to phone to iPad and tablets with it. It's nice.

Haha yeah, with the wife back at work I have a little more spending room.

As far as the gas tank goes, I have heard that the fuller the tank, the better. More surface area inside the tank will allow more condensation to accumulate, and with less gas in there the water gets into the gas and thats bad. But I'm not sure how credible that is because I don't see where the condensation would come from in a sealed tank. Just my .02 though.

The part I am pretty excited about with the apple TV is that I can use my TV asa monitor for when I am playing a game or something with my iPhone5. Not sure if thats true, but I will explore once I can hook it up.

Whats JD anyway? online movie rental place or something?
