So here's an update... the guy is a dick. Lol. Plain and simple. He is pissed off... not upset, pissed. I told him the church won't let him sign the baptism since he is not Catholic. Legit reason. I blame my wife for this whole ordeal.

I guess my family structure was a little different.

I really have no damn idea who mine is, nor would it have been a influencing factor in my life.

If my parents died, i had a plan to break into a research lab, and get bit by crazy super-radioactive spiders.

    then move to New York...

He needs to grow up. I expected him to blow up, but wanted to get it over with before Christmas... maybe he'll get over it. If he doesn't, he better act like he is. I'm near the point of telling him it isn't best.

Isn't it sort of irrelevant? Its a title, not a legally binding agreement to raise your kid. Do you really think a court would award him custody if you and your wife died? I think I would have just let it go and made a will with instructions for who is to get your kids. Even if you don't make a will, your next of kin would likely be where your kid would end up.

Leave him as the god parent but set up legal guardianship in a will. It will take precedence over a god-parent designation. He'll be pissed but you'll both be dead.
