Supply and demand. Since there are more people who want the item, and it can make a quicker turnaround they can sell it for closer to market value. Also, more commercial traffic flows in and out of bigger cities daily bringing more trucks. Are you on a major highway between cities? Are you out in the boonies where no major highways are? You have to keep in mind that gas prices for transportation of the gas makes the final price higher for you consumers in smaller cities as well.
