Have you spent much time exploring around Cranbrook? More spefically along the Bull River fsr? There are a tonne of back roads to explore in there, I'd stay away during hunting season though as it gets busy.

You're close enough to Montana as well. Monument peak would be a short destination you could do in a 4-5 days from the Kootenays.

haha, its not even my truck actually. But I would love to have something like it one day. I met that guy in the rockies last year. He had traveled from the tip of south america to the northerest park of Alaska and was heading across canada before shipping back to Europe. It was well equipped and i'm sure could handle anything a stock TRD could handle. You could tell it was really designed for travel in more dangerous areas with the windows bared, something that might come in handy when traveling through mexico. I'm currently building up my 2012 tacoma. Not going to be doing any expedition travel per say but I'm modeling it more towards that. One day I hope to put a 4 wheel camper on there.

I'm going to check out Yellowstone park, never been there before and I've heard great things. I'm going in September so hopefully most of the tourists are gone by then. I'm not one for crowds.

    Nice truck btw.

I think you underestimate a large portion of the people here.

So......let me get this straight......you're preaching to the rest of us about what constitutes an "expedition" vehicle, and what real "expedition" travel is defined as. But you are building one of these so-called "expedition" vehicles but are, as you say, "not going to be doing any expedition travel per say"? I'm sorry but you are a prime example of what my gripe is with the "expo" community.

Aww fuck...there's rules to being in the "expo" category now? Lame.
Guess I'll just stick to hauling ass on the trails and completing the trip early while passing the stupid arrogant fucks that make the rules.

I think you misunderstood me. I didn't say I'm building an expedition rig. I said I'm modeling it after one. I'm building it to do weekend trips and trips that take up to a week or so. By no means an expedition vehicle. I do a lot of camping and fly fishing in remote lakes in BC so its important for me to have 4x4 capabilities while having some luxuries of a warm dry place to sleep. That's all.

No one said there were any rules man, don't get your panties in a bunch. Just the opinions of one guy, maybe some agree, some obviously don't. Stay cool Brett, stay cool.

And it's arrogance and opinions like yours that give the offroad and expo community a bad name. As Monte pointed out, the objective is to get out there. Whether it's overnight or a month long trip, it makes no difference to me. Defining an expo rig as whether you're wanting to live in your truck for a week or not is just plane ignorant.

Whats your gripe exactly? You have a problem with people who don't build expedition rigs, don't consider themselves part of the "expo" community and don't go on expeditions? What exactly do you have a problem with? (Besides jumping to conclusions.)

Pump the brakes there big rig. My opinion doesn't give off-roading a bad name. There are a lot of people who might agree with me, you're just not one of them. It's ok that we have a difference in opinion. You don't have to get upset about it.

Why are you guys so upset? Can someone not have a different opinion than you without you getting all defensive? What's the big deal? It's like I'm threatening your identity or something... Just relax and have a good time.
