Have to drive, any kind of legislation will likely one again introduce a mail-order prohibition.

It's a pisser... I have a COE and would have been legally exempt had 962 gone into effect, but only a few online vendors would have honored the exemption.

It's sucks to be a gun owner in California. Where else would it take 10 days for an "instant" background check to be performed.

thats BS!! idk how they can even do that.

i was reading some comments on youtube videos last night. people wear saying that you should have to be 21 for all ammo and guns( you can be 18 and buy shot guns and ammo) also said that you should have to be finger printed every time you buy ammo and you can’t buy more than 100 rounds a year. lmao. that same guy said he did not own any guns and will never own a gun.

We're being slowly overrun with non freedom loving Californians sadly. For every Jberry we get I'm convinced we get several expcustoms (but worse - wait what am I saying?). :(

One of these days (like, when I retire) you'll get another Californian... and I'll bring my guns with me (but I'll leave my bullet buttons here).

It all depends on the political climate.

AB962 was thrown out for a number of reasons.

Microstamping was suspended due to the fact that only one company offers the technology to make a microstamping firing pin, and it can not become law until a 2nd company develops the technology.

The mail-order, fingerprinting, and other restrictions related directly to ammo was handed back by the courts a couple of times due to the case not being "ripe"... there was no harm or loss in a law that had not yet taken effect.
The day the law would have taken effect, or shortly after, the 9th (yes Virginia, the 9th Circus Court of Appeals) tossed the whole fucking thing as "Unconstitutionally Vague"

    Some clarification on "Unconstitutionally Vague"

    The law specified handgun ammunition.
It did not specify calibers, nor did it specify centerfire.
.22lr is just as common in handguns as it is in rifles.
9mm is common in many AR pattern rifles.
.45 is not unheard of in a rifle.
Many other calibers are unclear as to whether or not they are handgun or rifle cartridges.

So to get the same law through the "Unconstitutionally Vague" litmus, all they need to do is rewrite the law so that it applies to ALL ammo.

It's not a ban, it simply prohibits mail-order purchases unless the buyer holds an 03FFL plus a California COE (got 'em both), it imposes quantity limits, and it requires ID and a thumbprint at the point of sale.

AB962 had provisions against private party sales.

You can bet you're tookus they'll include it this time.

And 100 rounds of ammo per year on the Youtube comment?

    Ya... like that's gonna work.

Not 48 holes, but 48 rounds of .45 did pass through this target... my first time shooting my RIA 1911 and my first time firing a 45 in about 5 years...
