this is true i keep forgetting how big the group is.

 

Bob and i were thinkin a group photo in the dunes or in the play area at BFE would be sweet

 

Odd question but how is everyone gonna keep in touch down there?? i only know a hand full of people.

I imagine we will swap numbers closer to the date and use a common cb channel for those equipped.

 

where are you trying to keep in touch with people at? camp? on the trail?

Everyone should have a cb and the channel will be set before you guys hit the trail. If you're not staying in BFE, you'll need to find out the day before who the trail leader is for the next day's trail and where/when they're meeting and just make sure you show up.

If you're staying in BFE, it's even easier. You'll see a mass of people getting ready and rolling out at the same time. I recognized people's trucks quicker than I learned names last year. Some of the guys actually wrote they're TW name on their truck so as to help people recognize them.

oh um any ideas on what's gonna be small in size and work the best?? ive never had a CB befor..

 

There's a cheap one at walmart that is decent. That's what I am running. Cost around $40 IIRC.

 

cell phones don't work very well out at BFE....

verizon was spotty at best for me last year

 

ATT&T actually has pretty sweet coverage all over Moab. I've never had a problem.

CB advise please

 

As far as cb's go, buy an inexpensive radio, and a good antenna. A cheap radio like a Midland or Cobra base model will work fine, just spend a few dollars more on a decent antenna that allows you to still be able to tune it like a firestick.

 

Uinden 520 pro man. Having rf gain is so nice. Plus it just slides right into the ash tray position

X2 on a good cable and antena. I went with a nice Wilson cable and 5' firestik(it's way way tall ). These are the most important. That said every cb I have contacted with has been different. If there was another Uinden 520 in the group. Tat person would come through VERY loud and clear. Everyone else would be quiter was odd..

I could hear Ben and mike over 3 miles away in a canyon with my setup and the gain all the way up. Couldn't communicate..but could hear

G with a 4' antena tho for reals. Mine is so damn tall and I have yet to find a spring that'll hold it good enough that it won't come down and try and smack my head that's hanging out the window. It'll hit the ground a lot.

$25 for a 4' fire stick this is doable.. still gonna piss the wife off
