Just noticed my wall tagged on. Live on a corner. Prior to purchase noticed it was tagged on 2 wks before purchase, it was painted over before closing. This is a somewhat high crime area. So not a complete surprise. Wondering what I should do...Someone told me to write "sucks" right next to their name. Someone else said, Call cops, obviously rarely anything is done but at least you report vandalism. Another friend said they reported and they painted it over but it was painted a different color than their wall.

This pissed me off. It makes me feel like I should be on constant vigilance. Maybe I should have an outdoor dog. All my dogs are indoor right now.

but seriously, the only suggestion is to put in some bright motion activated lights, high strength up and out of the way where its hard to destroy them

I have no problem "throwing down" and protecting myself and property LOL. Unfortunately the law protects the criminals just as well or even better than they do the law abiding citizens at times...

Maybe I should add motion sensor lights and or camera's on a very high strength pole.

    But I don't think it's that simple.

all you can really do is deter them, unless you want to stand around 24/7 waiting. No half smart criminal is going to try and finish their tag if there are 3 bright ass light shining on them, hopefully it spooks them and scares them away. Can you get motion activated sound alarms as well? That go off for a minute then go silent till the next trip? Not sure if they exist just asking. If you know its a high crime area might be a good investment.

Honestly with as many people that walk by, I would have neighbors call the cops on me more often for being a public nuisance.

Seems the easiest answer is putting up motion sensor lights. Plus cameras just to have the satisfaction of actually catching them.

Use the same color paint they used, and write "is gay" next to it.

Motion lights and what Ben suggested. Anti-graffitti paint doesn't solve the problem but most paints will clean off of it rather than having to paint over it every time.

I live on a corner, and was getting my fence tagged. At first it got me upset, then one of my neighbors painted over it, as they had to look at it.

Then it was back again, only this time they saw who did it. Grabbed an old half full can of paint, with a brush, went to there house, knocked on the door and asked the dad where he would like my gang sign. Took one look at how mad I was, called his 13 year old up to the door and I had free lawn mowing for the summer.
