My personal reason for disliking ND is threefold:
1) As I outlined in a previous post...

...for beating us in the '73 Sugar Bowl when we were #1 and the following year in the Orange Bowl when we were ranked #2.

2) It seems to me that if ND strings together 3 wins, regardless of opponent ranking or how well ND was the previous season, they automatically start rising into the top 10. They rise because they're ND.

3) IIRC the reason they have a Bowl qualifying number of 6 wins is because ND kept getting Bowl offers over higher ranked teams and ND wasn't even ranked in the top 10, barely the top 25! In the mid 80's ND received a Bowl invite despite having a 5-6 record! There was so much backlash that, and to their credit, ND declined the invite.

 

these bowl games are based on national following and the interest these bowl games provide to the general public,,if ND is in a bowl game they have a HUGE following those hoping they get their butts kicked and those hoping they win.

That video made me laugh hard...I watched it 6 or 7 times yesterday. Fuckin hilarious.

Reminds me of how we were during Jackie Sherril days. Every day a new player screws up in some way. Croom came in and cleaned house. The program and the players reflect the coach. Miles is welcoming trash to come in and play for him. As long as you're talented you can play, regardless of character.

True... and because of that huge following they were getting these invites. Can't say I blame the Bowl committees, after all, the more people in the stands the more $'s they make. However, don't go bragging (not that you have) about how many Bowl games or successive Bowl games you've been to like it's a badge of honor when your fan base is more deserving than your football team.

 

Not so cocky now... Did anyone else perceive him as cocky or was it just me? No doubt, the kid was good but I'm not for a kicker showing out in front of a camera. Glad hand your holder/linemen is fine but drawing attention to yourself when these guys have been beating each other to a pulp and you kick a ball... something doesn't seem right.

Auburn had a place-kicker that kicked a game winner in the closing seconds to beat the Gators one year and then ran down the field doing the Gator Chomp... C'mon man, you're a kicker!?

Maybe it's just me...

 

I liked him. I thought the taint on the fake punt was hilarious and hate that it was called back. They don't get a chance to do much besides kick the ball, I don't blame him for wanting to celebrate. Did anyone outside of Baton Rouge know him before that? Not many. He was a household name for a week or so after that. Even bad Press is good press, right?
