Here are is the official ARB bumper on a 2012 Tacoma. This will be the final product that is being sent out. It looks very similar to the sample pictures people have posted in the past.

I suppose they don't look that bad. I guess I'll find out in person soon enough. I have to trust that ARB would put out a good product, but from what I can tell so far I like the 2011's and older a lot better.

Ha, I just received the same email. Agreed on the lazy comment. If someone like Tyler at Pelfreybilt can make it work flawlessly with the new front design, I would think a multimillion dollar company could do the same. Even if it is true that functionality of the bumper is completely retained, you can't just ignore aesthetics. That is for most people half the reason they install one of these.

i just ordered a shockworks bumper for my 2013...had planned on the arb but i am not gonna cut up my front bumper because of their lack of interest in putting the best out there. i just put my totaled 2008 front bumper back on and removed the plate bumper so i can sell it. if i totaled the 2013 with the arb, i would be spending another ?700-800? replacing the cut up bumper and repainting it.....

yeah, I'm feeling the same way about it.

    Hi,
The factory bumper gets cut horizontally just below where the arb bumper covers. Basically the top few inches remain, just enough to fill the gap below the headlamps to the top deck of the bumper. We use this process on hilux, 200 series, prado. 4runner and about a dozen other models as it allows for a much more finished appearance.
I'm out of the office until after Christmas, but can send you a couple pics of that process at that time showing exactly what goes on during the install.
    Thanks,
    Marc

I think anyone in the business of aftermarket bumpers will be able to capitalize financially over ARB's lazy approach to designing a custom bumper for the 2012 Tacomas. These bumpers are not being greeted with the same enthusiasm as their previous bumpers for tacoma pickups.

The arb is growing in me. I think it looks better on darker colors where the plastic number blends into the arb. It's still disappointing to have rtwo cut up the stock parts though.

I don't mind the look of it so much, but yeah it sucks that you have to cut up your stock bumper. It ruins it if you ever sell your truck and want to take the ARB off. I wonder what it would look like without the bumper plastic on there...

I hate how far ARB bumpers stick out. That's the huge reason I bought a relentless.

The photo's of it on the red truck make it look much better.

Someone did a thread with one on a white regular cab. The bumper looked weird on that. It looked huge.

I have a DCLB so I think one of these should look good on it.

Just not happy about the whole cutting the bumper thing.

I saw that thread and it does look a lot bigger. Might be because the red truck is lifted and the white one is stock?

I'm getting one regardless, because I've already paid for it. I'll post more photos of it soon after the install. So far I've only seen 3 angles of it so its tough to tell. It might look really good in person.

That white rc is mine and I agree it does look a little odd on the stock rig. That will change soon though and I hope a little extra height and taller tires will even things out. At the cost of the bumpers, arb should have at the very least, included a paintable trim piece so one doesn't have to butcher their oem bumper. Hopefully they get enough negative feedback on these and step up to the plate on this issue.

shockworks supplies a light metal piece which clips and bolts in to fill the void...

I just ordered my ARB, a XD 9000 winch and lights a few hours ago.

I've seen Desertrocks ARB up close:

    viewFile_7b1f06d41cfa2ba200d4d74271733cf2ad175e89.jpg

While it looks bulky in pictures, it looks just right in person.

Plus, I like the build quality of the ARB and that it's designed for my OME suspension.

But that is the 05-11 ARB it looks like which fits much better than the one for our trucks...

I drove past the 2012 silver DCLB (that I posted the pic of on page 2 of this thread) just about every day. They also drive a black 4Runner (occasionally) that is badass.

I'm sure it is fantastic quality and could crush many kangaroos, but I never got used to how far it hangs off the front of the truck.

I don't really think it's going to be as bad as posters suggest.

While I sold all my take offs within days of removal, I don't care if they cut into the factory bumper.

    There isn't much there, anyway.

I know a front bumper would probably sell quickly, since that's main area of damage in accidents. I just don't care.

I sold the rear bumper and class III hitch the same day I listed it and had the wheels, tires and steps sold before I even had the new ones on.

I threw the front and rear bumpers of my JK in the dumpster they were so pathetic.

I had a Shrockworks mid size on my JK and it took something like 15 weeks to show up.

It was an EXCEPTIONAL piece of work, but they are slow, so I hope you aren't in a hurry.

I hope you're right. Can't wait to see it on your truck with some detailed pictures. It seems we are going about the same way with our trucks, I'm just lagging behind you a bit :(

Well, this is depressing. I've always dreamed of owning an ARB bumper as they typically look awesome!!! But, the one that fits my 2013 looks like ass! Sticks out a mile and requires cutting the curvy stock front bumper (which doesn't even match the ARB's looks in the least) and using its remnant to fill a gap that shouldn't exist in the first place! There's so much room to do a tucked up winch mount (one could stick a mount and a winch behind the stock bumper even) so, why does the new ARB have to stick out like a cow catcher?I am VERY disappointed!!! :(

Guess I know what I won't be getting when the time comes!

But, I will definitely get their lockers eventually! So, at least I will have some ARB swag on my Taco!

Does ARB make a rear bumper? Maybe that's cool?
