Just hit and killed a dear, interestingly enough, all I will need to fix is the front passenger side bumper extension. It is cracked on the inside of the wheel well. Could probably leave it but I think the crack will creep with vibrations. Can I remove this without removing the front bumper?

I am. I was searching the Internet looking for a replacement if necessary and I think they list it as a bumper extension. Would it be classified as left or right if it is the passenger side?

well if you see a crack on the inside of the wheel well the whole thing is cracked. the flare clips to the bumper so your whole bumper will need to be replaced.

Not to correct you but if you turn it into your insurance company,I would say that the deer was a suicidal deer.In my line of work deer are suicidal.;)

It is actually separate from the bumper, you can tell if you look at the bottom and sides.

correct but that little flare extension just clips onto the top of the bumper so if its cracked on the bottom(the actual bumper) than the whole bumper is toast. Did it crack the top of the flare extension?

Sorry for the confusion, it is on the flair extension itself. I am trying to figure out a way to post a picture from my phone.

Was going about 35, slowed down for somebody in front of me that slowed down for some tracks, deer ran in between us and I must have hit it at 20-25. I was surprised at the lack of damage. A fire truck was about three cars back and pulled it off the road by the time I was able to get through traffic and come back. Scratches on front bumper that buffed out and this crack on the bumper extension. And lots of slobber on front passenger side tire.

Well if you take the flare extension off it will tell you if the bumper underneath is cracked or not. its really just a few little plastic clips holding it on and you slide the clips out from the underside of the bumper. i think they are orange clips.

I figure I can fiberglass anything underneath and not care how ugly it is. So do I have to take the whole bumper off to get to the flare?

nope just reach up underneath and look for the little tabs. they slide out and than the flare will come off.

And, lots of hair everywhere, looks like it bounced around off the skid, a crossmember, and the rear. Worse damage seems to be the piece in question. Already had it on the highway, no vibrations, etc.

Bumper underneath is good, one mount is broke off the extension and missing one blue clip. Debating getting a new piece or not. Truck is an 09 with 11,000 miles on it. Could probable just fiberglass the crack from behind and nobody but me would ever notice...
