Our calendar ends every year. Did people get bored of making predictions each year?

If I understand it correctly, there's simply no date on the Mayan calendar for tomorrow, so the world supposedly ends sometime today (Dec 21st). Where have you heard a specific time?

Anyway, since the Mayans lived on this continent, it's probably safe to assume their days were based on this geographical area - more specifically for us, days within the Central Standard Time zones of Canada, the United States, and Mexico.

Dear lord, does nobody read ? This question/comment has been addressed several times. The Gregorian calendar and the Mayan calender are two completely different time based calendars. Even OZ has given details as to the difference. The thought that since leap year was not taken into account, the world should have ended XXX years ago has no basis in fact. The Mayan Calendar date for the 20th of December is 13.0.0.0.0 and the Mayan date for the 21st is 0.0.0.0.1, so it is just like our calendar where we have December 31st, and the day after is January 1st. It's just a new year for us, just like for them it is a new cycle. As OZ put it so simply,

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Because they didn't invent the calendar, they just developed it further.

Are you serious? I have to admit that if my power went out right at 12, I probably would have freaked a little!
