I didnt get to hunt this weekend due to family functions and studying for finals. I figure ill just wait till Thursday morning after I'm finished with finals. Then I can hunt every morning until the semester starts back if I wish. Are y'all having much luck down there in the low country?

My brother and dad went out this weekend while work kept me working...

I came home tonight and went digging through the ice chest...

Absolutely unbelievably , my dad and brother didn't notice that their wigeon was a little "odd" looking. I asked my dad about it and he said, "it's just a young wigeon."

"No dad," as I popped up a picture on the Internet for him to compare...

.... That's a Eurasian Wigeon, and you'll never shoot another one in your lifetime."

My brother and dad's jaws dropped, I cleaned the bird up a little bit and packed it up to get sent out to the taxidermist. Lucky bastards.

    Yeah it's pretty incredible.

My brother was laughing after I told him about the bird...

"Good thing I decided to be a lazy fuck and not pluck the birds right when I got home."

At least paying to get it mounted will be a great Christmas present from me to them.

Ya man we killed 12 wood duck Saturday up near lake Marion. Then between sun. And this morning my buddy and I killed one wood duck and two green wings. A few mergs too. We almost killed some gadwall today but our 30 decoys got swept away by marsh grass so we spent an hour in the middle of our creek flaring teal left and right.

I wouldnt mind getting a few woodies.

Anyways, here's a picture of the Eurasian Wigeon my dad and brother got. Normally the head is green with a white mohawk, this little Russian bird has a brown head with a cream colored mohawk.

We let our birds sit for a couple days to age them before we pluck them... my brother started picking them tonight and he noticed that they didn't only overlook a bird of a lifetime... they also overlooked mallard jewlery. I'm a very jealous boy right now.

For those that remember my brother got a banded hen mallard last weekend and I was jealous beyond belief. At least I managed to get the same today :)

Was a great hunt at a clear and sunny, and a 61 degree high here on a private lease in West TN. Foggy morning with birds flying consistently from about 9 till about 1:30. At most, one time, we saw probably 4-500 birds in the air. From singles to groups of mallards we worked in the spread if flooded timber.Total was 26 with limit of mallards. 5 hunters.
