If you can find 4-pin connectors then you need 2. If you get an 8 pin then only 1. But if you can only get 2 pin connectors then you'll need 4 total. Its 2 wires per light. The rest of the wiring for the relays and the flashed module will all be concealed within the truck and not removed.

And yes the flash pattern is selectable. It gives 7 flash options. If you look at the diagram, notice 2 switches coming off the module... 1 for on/off and the other is a momentary push button for pattern select.

This would be a fun project and I'd love to help. If you can purchase the module, a bit of wiring, and two standard 5-pin automotive relays, then let me know when your free and we can get this done. Your going to need a decent amount of wire since you'll be running wires from the break lights all the way to the engine bay and back. Its gonna be complicated but I can make it really clean. You'll need some split loom too to keep it clean

Could also get 2 of these and just leave 1 pin blank on each connector.

Get a 5th light that matches the rest, except in red. Then mount it directly in the middle of the box and use it as a "4th" brake light :spy: then you can use all 10 total pins :D

I like those! That's pretty sweet install and they seem pretty bright. I'd do that if I didn't already have a crap ton of lighting. But its so simple.... never any fun if you don't make crazy wiring diagrams that are over engineered haha :D

Haha true true. Plus the OP wants them to work as singles as well. I'm sure you can get that to work with these but I wouldn't want to mess with it lol

Alright buddy, lets get this shopping list together! I'm looking into the otrattw switches, what kind do I need to make everything work?

Well heres the thing, you need 2 different switches. Im not sure you really want to waste 2 blanks for this, but its your call. The 1 main on/off switch you can get an OTRATTW switch no problem. The second needs to be a Momentary push button, not really a switch. This will serve as the pattern change.

If it were me, personally I would get a valet switch off an alarm (you can also buy these at radio shack or I have plenty extra you can use one) and mount it in an inconspicuous location such as the driver kick panel, or side of steering column might be cool. This is a switch you will hardly ever use, so no point in spending money on a nice fancy switch that takes up a lot of space. But your choice. Here is the valet switch id use:

For the on/off, you will need a standard switch. You can pick between the Laser etched like this:

or the Carling Tech switched like this:

Personally I like the Laser etched better. The default drop down selection is usually "rocker only, no switch body" but you need to choose the correct color combo and with switch body. For example, lets say you want the first switch I pictured listed here: http://otrattw.com/proddetail.php?prod=VVPZC77-5RR&cat=14

You need to select a color option you want from the drop down. The page shows a description of each. You need a SPST ON/OFF switch. Make sure it doesnt say SPDT or DPDT or ON/OFF/ON or ON/ON.

Once you pick the actual switch you want, send me the link and what color options you want and ill verify which one specifically to order.

    -------------------

Once you have 1 on/off toggle switch and 1 momentary push button, you will then need 2 standard 5-pin automotive relays. These can be found at any auto parts store for like $10 each which is insane, or you can go to a junk yard or pick-a-part, pay your $2 entry fee, and then take a pocket full of relays out of most Fords on the lot. This is how I get all my relays (I have a bucket full) and have used them on all my own installs and for other... Never had a single fail on me. And since they are OEM, they are bound to last a very long time. Plus this way they are so cheap you can easily swap one out if they go bad. Your call.

    -------------------

Now that you have your relays and switches, you need a $hit ton of primary wire. We can discuss that later. I have better cheaper ways of getting it than at an automotive store. I can get 400' for $25 whereas a store gives you like 10' for $10

Anyways, you will also need a small pack of zip-ties (not overly ginormous ones, just regular 6" or so is fine) and a roll of 3M Super 33+ electrical tape (works best and lasts forever!) Shrink tube will also be needed, but can be purchased the day of, or we can just use mine since I already have lots of the correct size shrink. Then lots of misc. connectors, but dont purchase any connectors yet. These I can also get for dirt cheap. I get 100pcs of 3M connectors for about $3-4 whereas a store charges about $5 for 5 pieces and they are really cheapy shitty ones.

    --------------

That should about do it for your shopping list. So to recap:

    - 1 SPST on/off OTRATTW Switch
    - 1 Small momentary push button (I can supply I think)
    - 2 Standard 5-pin automotive relays
    - 1 roll of 3M Super 33+ electrical tape
    - Small pack of black 6" zip ties
    - Lots of primary wire (we will discuss later)
    - Connectors (also to be discussed later)
    - Shrink Tube (I can supply)
    - Split loom 1/4" or 1/2" (15-20') added*

Also, if you choose to make a quick disconnect for the lights, please be sure to purchase the waterproof plugs I showed you before. You need Two 5-pin connectors or One 10-pin connector (really only need 8 pins total but good luck finding a connector like that).

Let me know when you have more questions or are ready to move on

I forgot to mention you will also need a bit of split loom. How much I'm not exactly sure. Depends how we wire all this. But most likely you will need at least 15-20 ft for a legit, safe, clean install. I'll add it to the list above.

Also, this connection I have that I mentioned getting this wire and stuff super cheap.... well I'm not sure if I can still use it. Its a shop called Cable John (can visit cablejohn.com) in Ontario, but its a wholesale supplier. I used to use Best Buys account when I worked then. Then they figured out I didn't work there any more and said I couldn't come back. That was almost 2 years ago so hopefully they forgot my face by noe :anonymous: anyways, in order to purchase from them, you need a verified account. I'm going to call a shop I used to work at and if they have an account there I will see if I can put it under their name. If not, I applied for a sellers permit and got approved tonight. With that sellers permit number, I should be able to make my own legit account there. But I'm not sure how it works. Its gonna take some time to figure it all out. If I am able to purchase there, then I can get just about everything on your list (except otrattw switch) at a fraction of the cost. Its like stupid cheap and its legit quality and brands. So you may want to hold off a few days and see what I can make happen with that.

Oh and if anyone has a legit business license and a sellers permit number for an actual qualified business, I may need your assistance :spy: I promise it won't cost you a penny :)

Alright here are the switches I'm thinking of getting off of www.ottraw.com

    9ejabahe_e0b5e1acfd81bfd89dfda600d8ee15614676ada0.jpg

Also doing research on some clear flush mount ambers. Hoping to do this soon. Holidays set me back a bit and I've was working 70-80 hour weeks for the past month and a half.

Still down to help me out and get everything together?

Yep I'm still down. I was actually just gonna ask you what happened lol. From those switches, I'd get the one that says Rear Lights. Do they have any that say Flashers or Dust Lights or Emergency Lights or something to that extent?

Yeah I'm gonna get one that has the emergency light on it. And then I need to find a cool push button to toggle between the flash patterns. I found these amber LED's. let you me know what you think!

Also, we're you able to figure out if you have hookup wire and relays?? Want me to pick some up or what?? I will also get split loom and connectors

Those look good for the lights. I'm sure you can find a better quality one that's brighter but those look decent.

I have a place that's local where you can buy primary wire, connectors, split loom, and other misc parts like that for much cheaper and way higher quality than cheapy stuff from Walmart or and auto store like pepboys and autozone. I recommend getting that stuff the day of the install at that place. Please don't buy cheap quality connectors. I beg you. It makes a huge difference. You can also buy shrink tube, and relays there for cheap as well. Its an awesome store!

I have a momentary push button switch I'm willing to part with that you might like. I purchased then in error and have 2 that I'll never use. Here's a pic:

    uploadfromtaptalk1359011314943.jpg
    uploadfromtaptalk1359011364853.jpg

The half dolor is there for size reference. If you want one of those your welcome to have it. Cost me like $1.50 for both so I'm not too worries about it. Too me its too big, I'd do something more inconspicuous like the one from my other post. But your choice. Just lemme know

Also, are you getting 2 lights or 4? Makes a big difference for the install, wiring, and parts needed

Well alright then, I will hold off on getting all the supplies so we can grab them by your place. How much you think all that will run so I know to bring enough?

Those switches are pretty big, I might pick up something a little smaller that I can mount on the side of the otrattw 6 switch panel.

I am going to get 4 lights. 2 on the side of the box and 2 on the front.

In regards to the lights, I am looking to keep it fairly cheaper but don't want to sacrifice quality, any suggestions? And keep in mind that I want the flush mount type as it'll be a much cleaner look I feel.

I'd say bring $60 just to be on the safe side. We want it to be a clean install so well have to make sure we buy the right stuff. I looked at those lights again, they actually seem legit. I'd say go for it. Check superbrightleds.com to see what their prices are. If its only slightly more for the same light i suggest that website. If its a lot more, then just stick with the eBay lights. I agree with the switch. Its a little gaudy. That's why I didn't want it lol.

Right on, that won't be too bad.

I looked into the LEDs on superbrightleds.com and couldn't find any that I was too find of. The ones that were the correct style were double the price. I am going to search a little more and see what I come up with. If nothing else I'll order those eBay ones..

Shouldn't be too hard to find a nice small momentary switch. I know radio shack has a ton of them!

Will do! Maybe i can make this a mod day and have some people over too. If we pick a date atleast a week in advance i dont see why that would be a problem. But pics, video, and possibly a write up will be soon to follow.

Yeah I honestly don't think those eBay ones are bad. I think they will be fine. I've ordered plenty of lights from superbrightleds.com and yeah they are pricey, but they are great quality! For budget purposes, just get the eBay ones. Worst case they aren't as bright as you like and you can save up and replace them with only taken a rather small loss. New lights would be practically plug-n-play (PNP) as long as they are the same size and within the amperage limitations of the flasher. They need to draw less than 3amps per light max which I'm sure they don't. I'll see if I can find the specs and do the math to figure it out.

Also, radio shack would be a great place to find a cheap momentary switch. Just make sure its a 'momentary' button and not a switch. It can't click or have 'positions' it needs to strictly be a momentary push button switch.
