I have an 08' Tacoma TRD/SR5 with 17'' stock wheels and Nitto Terra-Grapplers 265/65/r17. I am wanting to get new tires and wheels in a few weeks and needed to know everything I needed to get the job done. As far as wheels, I want either the American Racing Chrome ATX Artillery wheels or the Mickey Thompson Chrome Classic Locks, 6 lug. What size offset, backspacing, etc. is needed for my truck? It comes with 17'' wheels since it is TRD, but I am hoping to downsize to a 16'', mostly because I prefer more tire than wheel, but its not a big deal if these style wheels dont come in say a 16x9--I can stick with a 17'' if it is easier.

Also, I am wanting to get a set of BFG All-terrain Baja Champ tires. The size I want is 285/75/r16/17 (depending on size wheel). Now I know this size will rub, so I am curious what all I need to make sure they do not. I am looking at the Toytech 3'' lift for my truck to help with the rub issue, but do I need any upgrade suspension or like the Spidertrax wheel spacers or anything else other than the Toytec block? Any help with both of these issues will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, and Merry Christmas!

Another question to add to this for those in-the-know: Will there be any clearance issues with the brake calipers with a 16" wheel? I'm considering also doing a smaller wheel similar to what the OP is looking to do and am worried about caliper clearance.

there shouldn't be any brake clearance issues with 16" rims, i can fit tundra WL brakes on my 16's with 4.5" bs!

Tundra WL? I was hoping that with 6-lug Tacomas there might be a factory upgrade (read: inexpensive if take-off OEM parts are sourced) borrowed from another platform.

There was some talk about the Sports having 17" rims cause the calipers were slightly bigger than the O/R's which come with 16" rims. Not sure if it was clarified or not
