Mine does it too. 2013 access cab TRD sport with tow package and auto. Only does it after 15 or 20 seconds of waiting at red light. No air or other options on.

In the rear brake tsb thread one of the members mentioned this.. "saw another tsb, also released yesterday, about a clunk noise at stop or "bump from behind" feeling."

So looks like there may be a solution for those of you experiencing this, i had read like a week ago on here where someone posted that Toyota was going to be coming out with solutions for the top concerns on the Tacoma. Looks like they were correct, we have seen a driveline, rear brake and now a TSB that could solve this issue as well.

I've noticed it too once in a while.

It's not axle wrap or a tranny problem as others have suggested, it's a simple engine surge with the foot no being fully set into the brake.

    ... Don't worry about it.

AC compressor engagement will cause an RPM surge

Relax man. Some people here haven't been here as long as you, so turn away or try not to freak out about an old topic asked by newer folks here.

I'm not "freaking out" mike, just saying that the answer has been said many times by many different people, even in this thread and people don't want to believe it

Wasn't having the 'clunk' or 'bumb' but i was noticing the RPM surge when stopped. Since most of the time I only had a light touch to the break pedal the truck would start to surge ahead slightly until I pressed harder on the break pedal. So yesterday and today I stopped using the defrost option and I never experienced the RPM surge once. Stayed at just over 500 when stopped at lights.

My 2013 does it also. But, I had read about it here before it happened. Still makes me nervous... afraid I'm going to rear-end the car in front of me if I don't pay attention or stand on the brake.
