hey everyone, Merry Xmas! If you bought your truck used, ever wonder who owned your truck first? I bought mine used with 33k on it from CarMax in 09. Almost 4 years later im still discovering lil mods and things that aren't "stock" on it. I wonder if he/she was on Tacoma World too lol.

Mine has some wiring "tweaking" that makes it appear that an alarm system had been installed.
Kinda pointless without keyless entry, but oh well.

My previous owner had the floormat recall done in San Diego and no other service is logged in the Toyota system.

I do all of my own maintenance/services. Whenever I sell my truck I wonder if the fact that the only records the dealers have on my truck are recalls & TSBs will hurt resale? I know I'm more thorough than any dealership would be, and I do more preventative maintenance than is required by the manual.

Well mine has/ had aftermarket grill, exhaust, anytime foglight mod and some mystery switch down by my ebrake. Without directly comparing it to a stock 06 its hard to tell what else has been done.. My truck has even started on its own before with my keys 3' from me. It has autostart, but your suppose to hit a button first haha. Im sure someones tweaked with something.

Do you keep your receipts of buying the oil/ filter and keep an oil change log? If so, Id say your good as you can be. A dealer could try to screw you but if your selling it directly to someone you should be fine. They should appreciate the personal TLC. but that's my imo

Dynamat is an adhesive sound deadening material.

Usually used to eliminate body vibration from stereo systems, but occasionally used by those who are tired of a $25k truck with carpet and a fabric interior sounding like a '74 Courier with rubber floor mats and cardboard door panels.

I am the fourth owner of mine. It began its journeys in Georgia with a guy who was transporting spines and other parts for hospitals, so he bought he camped shell. My cousin bought it from him to get decent mileage in a pickup and took it to Alabama. He got rid of it and sold it to his parents, my aunt and uncle who needed a new truck after a legally blind driver totaled their Dakota. They sold it to me when I was 16

I would love to meet the first owner of my truck and ask him what the hell he did to it before he traded it in. I bought it and discovered that it had hit something from below so hard that it pushed the steering rack in to the oil pan and cracked it.

My previous owner never drove his truck off the lot. He bought it new, but then he got arrested the day he was supposed to pick it up - some white collar crime - his checks started bouncing after he bought a beach house, BMW, jet skis and then the truck, supposedly all with stolen money. I then got the truck as a used truck, because it was already registered in his name. I paid $19k for a $26k sticker truck because it was 'used', but had 18 miles on the clock.

I bought my truck used from a car lot and went on the Toyota Customer site and put in my VIN number to get all service records. I called the Toyota dealership with one of the invoice numbers and the lady said the owners name thinking it was me. I then Googled his name in the state it came from and found several matches for his name.

I called where he works and asked to be transferred to him. Well I got lucky, it was the owner and one heck of a nice guy that really loved his Tacoma AC but needed more room for his growing family and traded it off for a Tacoma DC with the same features. He was shocked that I found him but also happy to know where his truck ended up. He even thought he had an extra key and remote at home and sent them to me. We have emailed multiple times since and it was great to find out how meticulous his was about his truck maintenance and care. I let him know he could rest easy knowing I would continue the maintenance that the truck needed and deserved. The power of the internet, damn! :)

^^^That's kinda borderline creepy/stalking, but a cool story nonetheless! I've thought about sending e-mail pics of me and my dirt bike in action to the previous owner, but I was afraid of weirding him out!

Hmmm. Sounds like something I'm interested in doing to quiet things down a bit (wind & road noise). Might have to search around here for a price estimate of materials and a tutorial to find out where/how to apply it.

Thats insanely lucky... a used truck with 18 miles?!

I can understand why the previous owner of mine wanted to get rid of it. He/she had to change the radio, the water pump, a wheel bearing, the clutch, the rear window smash mod (thanks for not cleaning up all the glass shards btw), and put a small dent in the bumper that I got to press back out. Somehow all that in 25k miles. I'd want to run from the truck too.

If you know who you are, the radio went out again last year! But nothing else so far.
