Try searching some other threads, this thread title is for a tire size bigger than that. That tire size is the same as 285/70/17 or 285/75/16. A good amount of people with a lift run this size. Including me and yes lots of trimming.

I just put 285/75/17 Nitto TerraGrapplers on XD Revolvers on my '12 with ICON Uniball UCA's. Suspension is OME 885 up front and OME Dakars in the back. I had to cut the cab mount, could not turn very much until I did. Also had to trim some of the fender and some fender liner. This was just so I could drive it on the street.

McGoonagall, you have practically the same set up i'm looking at on the toy tech site, OME with complete springs and UCA's. My '12 Off Road has 16" wheels stock, so I'm really on the fence about moving up to a 17". Can you post some pics or pm me pics of the trimming you did? I assume a 285/75/16 wouldn't require trimming, (or new wheels $$).

I had to trim a shitload with the exact same setup you are looking at with 285/70/17 (same size as 285/75/16) you can run the stock wheels but you will need wheel spacers. My wheels stick out alot, the farther the wheels stick out the more trimming you will have to do. Pm me and ill get you picture

This thread is for 285/75/17 which is just under 34". 285/75/16, 285/70/17, 285/65/18 are all under 33"

Tried to take some pictures of what I had to cut. Mud flaps had to be removed. Also removed the small flaps in front of the tires. Had to cut a triangle out of the bottom part of the fender near the cab and cut some of the fender liner near the cab. I also had to pound some of the metal back behind the fender liner. At this point I can drive on road, but any bumps while turning I'm still rubbing. It is certainly not a setup for someone that is afraid of cutting bits off their truck and I've got plenty more to do to get it off road.

As evanmb31 was pointing out, Nitto's specs for this tire is 33.8", and for 285/70/17's (and 285/75R16) which people always seem to bring up in threads about this size are 32.76, a significant difference. Something to watch out for when people say they didn't have to do much trimming.

^ i cut that much just to wheel my 33's. I bet you'll need to remove the fender liner and pound the pinch weld completely flat to really stuff those 34's offroad.

For all that work, I may as well try and fit 35's instead. :D

Your truck definitely looks good with that size of tire tho.

So I am looking to do the same with my 17" stock wheels. What size spacer would you reccommend? I have been halfway convinced to just get new wheels with more sufficient backspacing. I would rather save the coin I guess.

    Here ya go

Lots of extra cutting of the flares and hammering the pinchweld required to do even mild off road stuff. Alignment set so the wheels are as far forward as possible. I need to remove the flares, and trim them and the fenders still, front and rear.

What kind of lift do u have? Stock uca's? Im thinkn bout geting the same size. .but the bfg km2s . Is it really alot of cuting ? .. i mean more then jus the pinch weld and cab mount chop? Jus a lil off the fenders right? Or it its alot of fender cuting? What area of the fenders do u have to cut?

I have the OME lift with ICON tube upper control arms. The amount of cutting required really depends on what you'll be doing. A dirt road is a lot different to Moab. For me it's required a lot. The plastic fender flares will require cutting a large portion of the plastic that faces the wheel. I have removed all of the screws holding the flares on I believe. With the fender itself you have the problem that the metal is bent inwards so if you stuff the wheel it will rub the metal, I still have to do this. There's also the fender liner that will require some trimming.

So if cutting up your truck is something that concerns you, then you should look at a smaller tire.
