For those who opted to get the supercharger what have your MPG been before and after the add on?

    Thanks.

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
I bought my truck used with S/C, but according to the previous owner:

    1. After install, MPG dropped 1-2 MPG.
    2. After adding 2.85 pulley, MPG was the same as stated in 1 above.
    3. After installing Snorkel, MPG increased 1-2 MPG.
    4. After installing 4.56 gears, MPG dropped 1 MPG.

Of course, this is second hand. With the above setup, I see on average 16 city. I don't have any good highway trips to comment on that mileage.

Oh, and that's if I don't have a heavy foot (which is difficult sometimes given the S/C) :D

My pre-and-post supercharger numbers are about the same. No snorkle or gears so I can't speak to that. I was averaging 16-18 mpg with 80% city/20% highway driving before the supercharger. It's now 14-16 mpg with the same driving. The initial mileage drop is about 4 mpg since the desire to hear the whine of the supercharger over rides any sense of economy. After time, it settles down a bit... :D

I get 20MPG with my supercharger. I use Imp Gallons up here though.

As to before the supercharger I got 20.1 MPG.. However it would have been higher as I was playing with different fuels and such. Ethanol really kills economy in the engines.

With out ethanol the highest I got was 23. With ethanol I got 17 as the lowest.. These numbers were with a brand new engine as well..

I have had my supercharger since day one at 10 miles on the ODO. I track each fill up using an iPhone app, and it is telling me I am averaging 17.3 MPG with close to 3000 miles on the truck so far. I drive about 50/50 HWY/CITY. Also, have All Terrain KO's on the truck which doesn't help, but doesn't hurt too much and I expect a little better with full break in and first oil change. If I avg 18 overall, that'd be dandy by me.

Mine has been about the same as well. As long as your not launching it from every light you should be OK.

I've had the supercharger since I took delivery. I see about 18 around town, 20 on the highway. I can easily get it to drop into the 16's if I want to have some fun. Where the supercharger really shines is up in the mountains. Can still get good gas mileage going up a mountain pass as it has the power to go uphill at highway speeds in 6th gear.

Its amazing the supercharger does not kill the mpg more. The biggest downside is running premium all the time. I am assuming everyone runs premium?

Did any of you guys get the dealer to install the SC? Can I ask how much you paid? My dealer here wants $4800 for the kit plus labor plus tax. That seems pretty steep to me.

Buy it from TRDParts4U.com for around $3,700 with fit kit. Dealer cost anywhere from $400 to over $1,000. There is research in my build thread.

Ok, so I have a truck loaded with armor and on 295/75R16 BFG A/T KO's and am currently getting 10.1 mpg to 12.5 mpg on the highway and around 8 mpg in town. on the highway the tranny is searching all the time and will never stay in overdrive. I also have long tube headers, a custom Y-pipe and a Borla muffler on the exhaust side and a snorkel mated to a AFE intake that is completly sealed together. So I was about to order a s/c and caught wind of the the supercharger and the snorkel not liking to play together. I know I could just order gears and a front locker and maybe help my mpg's out a little but I would rather have the extra power to just stay in OD and be able to keep my RPM's down when I am on the freeway. Cause I do make some long road trips in the truck. Now I have no clue what to do. Also the reason that I was going to do the s/c is cause I am the Parts Manager at a Toyota dealership so I can get a better deal on the s/c than a set of gears. And my boss has ok'ed me to have it pulled out of paychecks this year so I can split the cost into 11 payments. So my biggest issue is, is with the snorkel is the supercharger going to be a good option or a waste of money? I have not seen any real documented proof that the supercharger and don't work well together but it is kind of an expensive test. But I also know that my mpg really can't get any worse. What are your guys's thoughts?

I see multiple guys on here running a snorkel and supercharger at the same time. And your transmission is searching for gears on the freeway because it doesn't have the right ratio to hold that gear going that fast. You should really consider gears. It's hard on your drivline and transmission when it's looking for gears like that.

Well, the first problem with your theory is that the S/C is going to keep you in O/D. Boost adds more power higher in the RPMs. Therefore, when you're in O/D (lower in the RPM's) your S/C isn't adding much boost/power. The S/C isn't going to solve your issues. Gears are your best bet.

Yes, the supercharger does put out more boost at higher RPM but it actually regulates the amout of boost that is allowed into the motor dependant on the load that the motor has. The supercharger is building boost at all times even at idle it is just that the boost is being let out by the wastegate because it does not see a load and need the boost. So it will give me some boost at my cruise RPM. And from reading what others say about the supercharger and factory gears, no one complains about the tranny searching for right gear anymore. I had a supercharger on my '98 taco with 35's on it and actually had factory gearing for while but it was a 5-speed not a automatic. Yes when I went from 4.10's to 4.88's on that truck it also helped but in all reality, the supercharger made for more of a differance for just highway driving. The gears helped the clutch off-road. I know gears would help some as well, but like I said, I have a chance to get a supercharger now and not gears so I want to look at that option. My real question is whether the supercharger and the snorkel will work together. My '98 also had the snorkel with the supercharger and it worked, but this is a different truck altogether. That is why I am asking. I appreciate your thoughts on it solving my problem, it is making me think about things again. But I am also caught comparing this truck to my last truck....maybe it is just because I dont want to be talked out of the supercharger. LOL I will be doing more research.....

But please keep the ideas and thoughts coming.
