I can understand how it feels. Was out last night driving through the snow, looking for anyone that may have been stuck, just to keep my mind occupied. Keep your chin up bud, and much respect for your profession. Merry Christmas.

Yes, single & live alone. I'm okay with it too. Although from time to time I need to remind myself that there are worse things then being single.

Sorry ya had a long day OP. Christmas hasn't been like it was years ago. Big gatherings. Kids around. Now wife works all holidays. Stepkids always gone. I'm on call, but fortunately nothing happened today,so hung out with the dogs.

Impulsered shared a funny dog story,I have a goat story.
When we first moved in here the back sliding door had the outer glass missing, was shattered. So I duct taped the edge real thick where the glass was until I could replace door. We had some goats I would let roam out of their pen. Bad idea. They were small breeds but still goats. One day I was on phone with ma,and in walked they billy goat in the living room. Chewing cud and shit his peanuts onto the floor. Well told ma gotta go,there's a goat in the living room. She laughed till she cried.:)
Merry Christmas man,I've spent some lonely ones myself.

For many years I was estranged from my own family (long story), so there were several holidays spent alone, instead I chose to spend them serving meals and helping out at a local homeless shelter. It was always a great reminder that I didn't have shit for problems compared to many of those people- it was a nice way to gain a little perspective.

To the OP- the sacrifice you made so that others could spend time with their families defines the spirit of the holidays. Well done, sir.

I'm alone today too, but I worked. It's great money and even better, a great distraction. Plus most of my coworkers have spouses or kids or local family. I'm really sorry to hear about the awful things you guys have gone through and/or are going through. Especially with kids involved. That's just terrible. :(

People can be real asshats sometimes. It is always easier to be alone by choice than by circumstance, of course. And props to you all who volunteered today too.

I moved 3000 miles away from my family years ago, so I'm just lying in the bed I made for myself. I have no idea where my boyfriend is right now, I guess he's still at his mom's or brother's house from yesterday but I wish I had his company over the holidays, though I totally respect that his family comes first. Gonna just turn my damn phone off now and watch a movie with my dog. Hopefully you all can have a good (or at least tolerable!) night! Merry Christmas to you all, really.

Not the first Xmas I've spent alone. Yeah it sucks, but oh well, life goes on.

For the most part, I'm past needing a distraction which I guess is kinda sad in itself...right? My concern at this point is how many more holidays will my parents be around to enjoy the holidays with....

As far as pay it's cool. 2.5 times normal & I work 10 hour shifts...
