2011 Toyota Tires

My 2011 Toyota Tacoma Single Cab 4x4 has just hit 32,000 miles. The factory tires are slap wore out (All even wear). They have been rotated every 5,000 miles and the right air pressure in them there just worn out, seems premature to me, what do yall think?

Thinking about replacing them with factory size white letter Firestone Destination LE's. What do yall think?

 

What brand/type of tires did it have on them?

car manufacutrers never put decent tires on any vehicle unless your spending bookoos of money, aka more then like 40k lol

 

Plus the dunlops are terrible to begin with.

 

The dunflops are horrible horrible HORRIBLE tires. Mine lasted about 40k. Any tire is better than them. You have a truck, its a 4x4, treat yourself to a nice set of tires, at least an all-terrain tire. Mud-terrains even, while heavy, last forever on tacomas. I've got 60k on my BFG KM2's now. They're due, but I'll be fine for awhile.

 

Sounds about right mine have 25K on them might make it another summer after the winter tires are off but that will be it for them. I'll go with another road tire they last longer and in Maine nothing is close and I don't need the noise of a knotty tire.

 

I'd go with the Destination A/T's...hands down. i can't wait for these crap (dunlop) tires to be worn.

 

Wouldn't be a bad idea to throw the truck on an alignment rack if you feel like the prematurely wore out.

 

You did good. I got rid of the pos oem tires at 15,000 miles (bfg rugged trails.) The tread was so far gone i didn't trust them for snow.

 

Probably don't need an alignment if the wear is even. As many have said, the OE tires are crap to keep costs down for Toyota.

Since you have a 4-cyl, watch the weight of the replacement tires. P-metric tires are around 40 lb each while LT tires are 55-60 lb. The added rotational mass will be noticeable when you accelerate.

Firestone Destination LE averages 7.7/10 on TireRack for Toyota owners. I suppose it's a decent tire if you don't go off road.

If you go off road, get a P-metric all-terrain tire. Hankook Dyanpro ATm (like mine), Goodyear SilentArmor (8.5/10) and Firestone Destination A/T (8.6/10) are good tires.

 

If you don't use it off pavement, some Michelin LTX M/S tires would be good! They were the best tires I've ever run for a pavement bound truck! Super quiet, nice ride, great wet traction (IDK about snow, I rarely drive in the stuff, I live in NC), and lasted as close to forever as any tire lasted on the truck I had them on! (2007 DMAX/Alli Silverado, was hard on tires!)

 

I sold my dunlops with 37K for $80 bucks! Still had decent tread left, rotated and wear was even all around.

 

i replaced my dunlops this weekend. one was bad, the other 3 had 10k left. i have 26k on my truck. yeah they suck. i had 245/75/16 and went to 264/70/16 and i like it a lot better. it is hard to believe the stocks only last 2 1/2 years or 26k miles. i went with Michelin X Radial LT2 - P265/70R16 111T

 

almost died in my 4runner with OEM dunlops. got rid of them after 9000 miles and slapped
on michelins, never looked back. Went right back to same slippery spot and tried to get the michelins to kill me, they just laughed and gripped.

 

Second...and I agree, the stock dunlops are not the greatest tires out there.

I have a '11 access cab 4x4, six speed and at 30k miles, the stock dunlops will be replaced when the studded snows come off, probably with the Michelin LTX M/S 2 in the 235/85R16 spec.
