Shouldn't have to take it out all the way. Are you trying to add or remove preload?

 

Remove pre-load. I broke my socket extension that fits perfect in the hole

 

You're not trying to do this with the weight on the ground/truck not jacked up are you?

Maybe try some penetrating oil? Probably need the proper spanner to do it also...

 

The king spanner wrenches notoriously bend, and yeah I lubed it

Kings have to be removed don't they? Placed in a vise and adjusted, that's what I've always heard from guys in the mid travel bs thread!

 

I'm not 100% on MT shocks but I adjust my Kings on the truck with no issues. If you broke an extension without seriously damaging the aluminum collar it was a cheap extension. I use an allen wrench that fits snug in the hole, that way you can use the long or short side of the allen wrench to get better positions on the collar. Also spray a tiny bit of lube on the top and bottom of the spring itself where it contacts the spring plates, that is where it needs to slide

 

maybe i should try taking the nut all the way out of the collar?

 

I wouldn't, I was going to say don't loosen it too much, I usually loosen mine until it has no pressure then just finger tight back to keep the collar round. If you remove it all the way it allows the collar to become non-round if that makes sense, since Kings are a pinch collar and not a set screw I would think the screw would help it stay round so it doesn't bind when you try to turn it

 

Sweet good looking out lol worst case scenario ill just rent a spring compressor, i need an alignment asap though lol

 

Couldn't hurt. Could always get a stronger spanner wrench...

 

It also helps if you have a buddy try and turn the spring itself while you turn the collar. It may just be stuck from being in the same spot and wheeling for awhile and that can help break it loose
