Finally went and played for a few minutes in the snow.... I really wanted to slap the shit outta some of those drivers up there though. They're stupid and don't know how to drive. I'm havin no problem doin 40 mph and some dude is doing a CRAWL at 5 mph down the middle of the road, wouldn't let anyone pass on a downhill. Then we get out of the snow all together, just a wet road with a little slush and people are still doing 10 mph! UGGGGHHH people. It was icy in a couple places but overall not that bad.

Peet's was closed but Cafe Trieste was open til 2PM! I *think* Starbucks is open but you said you wanted good coffee...

I feel kinda blah but I promised myself long ago that if I'm going to be alone for holidays then I might as well work 'em. Extra money for me, keeps me busy, and means my coworkers with spouses, kids, or nearby family can have the day off!

Meh....I'd rather be behind a dumbass who drives slow because they don't know how to drive in the snow/slush than be behind a dumbass who thinks he knows how to drive in the snow because they have 4wd and a lifted truck with mud tires. Besides, I expect that kind of driving from CA flatlanders.

And on that note, it's coming down hard right now. At least 6" in the last 3 hours.

It's OK. They do it in the rain too...45 down 101 in the #2 lane. Peeps are passing on both sides and the guy won't move. Oh yeah, lifted Tahoe...big bro tires.

i can only imagine how City drivers, who often drive poorly in the rain, handle the big scary snow when they head up in hordes to the ski areas

    Was that shots fired?

I suppose you're right, but the least they can do is stay the hell out of the way of the people who do know how to drive. Living in New England definitely got me used to driving in this kinda stuff. The whole winter the roads are ice and snow pack, and no one drives 10 mph thats for sure... lol. Keep it in low gear and don't touch the brakes, you'll slow down much faster :)

Hey Nor Cal, Happy Holidays everyone! My first post in the NC forum. I go by JT and I live in the Bay Area.
I have to agree with those who were up in snow country over the holiday. Traffic and driving by some was simply horrible. I went up to our place in Truckee last week, right before the storms hit. After a couple of days of epic snowfall I managed to dig out for some playing around in the powder. I was fairly impressed with the Taco's snow abilities. The traction/braking systems work well within their parameters. In bumper deep powder, truck in 4low I made it out of our burried driveway and up onto plowed roadway. I did some driving around Truckee Donner area. After being "snowed in" it was good to be out and seeing all the fresh powder and going somewhere.. Anyway I had to be back in the Bay area for Christmas and it was snowing pretty good when I left.. I-80 westbound was a parking lot so I headed over old Donner Pass, hiway 40 and bypassed most of the traffic. Back on I-80 the snow was as bad as I have ever seen it all the way down to around the 3000 ft. level before it became slushy rain. Made it home safely, Christmas etc. ONLY to be hit by some wanna be race driver in a Beemer on my way to work this morning!!

Cmon now, I wasn't referring to you. I mean the stupid bros. Just cause they have a big ass truck with big ass tires they assume they can drive the same speed. Those are what causes the accidents, not the people that piss you off cause they are driving slow. Besides i know you're from New England. I'm originally from Minnesota. There's mostly no such thing as chain control there.

I know you like your KM2s, and like most MTs they do ok in the SNOW, but they suck the fattest water gun in anything resembling ice. Seriously drive something snow flake rated or an actual snow tire and the difference is huge. I put blizzaks on my wife's 4runner and good god those things are worth their weight in gold. Anytime I go anywhere up here, if she's not using her truck, mine stay parked.
