I received a smart phone for christmas, even though i made it clear I didnt need one. But now I have and I don't know what to do with it. I have texted a few people and called a few but thats it and I feel like im wasting the money spend on it because idk what do do with it. I don't need it for music because I have an Ipod. I can search whatever I want to on my computer. and i really dont get lost enough to where i would need to pull up a map or something on a whim. So what does everyone use theirs for?

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
People use them for social media a lot. Some members only use their phones to access TW.

You can do your banking from them, dependent on your bank of course.

You can use the calendar feature and set up reminders for things.

    You can read books.

You can access ebay easily with the ebay app.

You can listen to internet radio via wifi or through the data package. I would use the wifi for that if you don't have unlimited data plan.

You can hold paper down on your desk.

    You can watch movies.

There isn't much you can't do with them.

the real question is what phone did you have before a smart phone?
i'm surprised you've held out for so long, even my grandparents are learning the ways of the app.

It is all those things but convenience. Do you "need" it, no. You don't get lost but you're in a new town and want to find some place to eat. You have your iPod and so does everyone else, but again now you don't have to carry them both (or a camera) everywhere you go. If you're out shopping and want to price compare on the internet before making a big purchase.

None of it is needed to survive, but it can be extremely useful. It can quite expensive, especially if you don't use it. It depends a lot on your lifestyle, do you get out much and feel you need those things with you wherever you go. I travel a lot and would be okay to not bring all of that stuff with me, but it makes it so easy that I don't even have to think twice about it.

Not to mention the work, banking, and just plain boredom uses.

I use it for the following:

1.) Internet, where I live my only internet options are satellite or dial up. This includes email, access to TW etc, check weather, finding stuff, banking, news ect...

    2.) Maps/GPS

    3.) Phone

    4.) Text

    5.) Take pictures

    6.) Take movies

    7.) Magnifying glass

    8.) Flash ligby

    9.) Alarm clock

I installed a cell booster with outside antenna so my service would work at my house and eliminated my landline.

I'm not sure I'll keep it when my contract is up unless it's cheaper overall which I think it will be...

Pretty much everything he said. Most of which now I do because I have the ability. I have a pc and laptop at home, but rarely do I use anything other than my phone except when at work.

    Is AT&T your carrier?

I do keep an old phone for times I know my other phone would get destroyed. I've even floated the river with an old phone, got back to land and switched the sim cards, ready to go.

    X2 on convenience...
Smart phones niche is they are all these in one - phone, ipod, camera, video camera, gps, flashlight, computer, games, immediate access to the web. etc-

I personally use mine for web surfing at work (my work desktop has everything restricted) and watching netflix, gaming, also at work (yes i am very bored at work...)

I used to say the samething. I know when Shazam came out on the iphone, people thought it was the coolest thing in the world that iPhone created. Little did the know Shazam was an app on regular phones long before iPhone. IPhones just glorified the "app"lications.

You can do a lot of the stuff, but not near the same amount of stuff. Plus it is completely different, better, and faster on your smartphone.

Satoshi'd grill. blacked out badges. aftermarket sound system. De-chromed and color matched. OME 885s + Dakars with 3rd leaf removed. LR UCAs. Scs stealth 6 with 285 duratracs. BAMF sliders
Everything. I dont even own a computer anymore. I constantly google stuff everyday. Find places to get lunch. Look for places to go offroading on google satelite maps. I have apps that help me at work (carpenter) stuff like a builders calculator. My smart phone makes me money, i trade stocks from my phone (my phone also helps me lose money lol) i also use it for tacomaworld, which is why i am on here way to much.
