Just a few little things. It's my DD
I love a stick but Health issues have not stopped me in that fact. But trust me if I had a knee that hurt me at all I would be in a auto quick. I hope your knee is better :)

But if I have a choice it will be a stick!

thx...knee seems to have survived 100% except a little pop now and then.
shit got loose in there from 1 year of swelling, but I feel 100% now.

lyme is totally curable, it just:

    a) depending on how long you had it before diagnosis, may or may not
be permanent changes in your body as a result

    b) it is 100% curable, but you need to be able to survive the antibiotic treatment. 1st round failed after 6 weeks, second round was ceftriaxone in a PICC line, that almost killed me and put me 2 weeks in hospital, but it made a dent in the lyme...3rd round was same drug as first round, but twice the dose for twice as long...that did it, but was unholy miserable couldn't sleep and nausea for 12 weeks. blah. and the lyme arthritis swelling took it's merry time to go away. nothing like a physical injury...the inflammation just took forever to calm down (months and months after I knew the lyme was dead)

    all fixed now

you do not want lyme trust me...and you do want a doctor who is a certified expert in infectious diseases to treat it. most doctors may not specialize in it and may not throw enough antibiotics at you...with a warning "I think I can fix this but your life will suck hard...so harden up and lets go!"

anyhow, that experience made me settle on automatics. That, and the fact my 99 4runner runs real sweet rock crawling with an auto...it does work great it is all user preference....

    Manual manual manual manual.
The auto is sloppy and boring. It also feels less torquey.

The taco is one of the only trucks that still offers a manual. Couple the to the fact that it offers a proper 6 speed and a short shift kit is offered seals the deal.

Toyotas were made to be manuals. Period.

Also had Lyme. Also had left knee issues. Did the clutch occasionally bother me? Yes. This was pre taco and with a vehicle that had a far heavier clutch.
Never ditched the stick. I own 3 manual transmissions right now. I really can't think of going any other way on this.

Hey I'm an "old" guy and I don't want no stinking automatic! I have heard the 1st gear stuff and they are no lower then any other small truck makes a lot of sense if your going to tow and the same goes for 6th I can run mine in 6th no problem try that with your automatic most of the time there in 4th with the O/D locked out.

Test a test ride and try them both out........then make your decision. I had the 5spd manual in my three previous tacos and had no problems with any. For my new truck I decided to go automatic. So far no problems and I like it. Also nice to hit the cruise button and float on down the road.

I've had 3 Toy 4wd trucks...all manual. When I was looking for the '07 Tacoma I have now, I had decided I was tired of shifting gears and going to get an automatic. There was 1 manual shift on the lot and the dealer wanted to get rid of it so he was willing to deal. I don't regret buying it. The extra gear(6 speed instead of 5) took a little getting used to and the throw between 3 and 5 is tight but convienent. 1st is very LOW , so if I'm moving at all I go to 2nd and skip some gears unless I'm towing. Once a Stick always a Stick!

I learned on a Ford Falcon "3 on the tree" many, many years ago. My aunt who lived in the country would take me out and let me drive all over the county, I was fifteen and this Ford seemed like a rocket. LOL I have owned many manuals and autos but at my age the auto in heavy traffic is just easier. But you just can't get "That Feeling" with an auto, oh well. Sucks to get old. [IMG]

I traded my auto 07 4x4 v6 that's paid off for a 2013 6speed trd and loving it! My auto had a little better mpg though.

I have owned over ten manual cars in my life. This 2008 6 speed TRD offroad is the worst shifting vehicle I've ever had. I've had the truck in four times to repair throwout bearing, clutch, shift bearings. It still shifts like crap. less than 60k miles on the truck for all that hassle, no thanks. Trading it in for a 2013 automatic. Good luck. My two cents.

All my tacomas where manual. I loved them. But now I have a automatic for pulling a trailer. If your on a hill and have to stop and you have a*s hole on top of you automatic is the way to go. Other then that MANUAL. I love them in the snow.:D

My TRD Offroad dual cab is due to be built on March 4th. I ordered the 6speed manual with factory installed TRD short shift kit and TRD cat back exhaust. I test drove a manual and liked it. I cannot wait to drive it with the short shifter.
