    Happy new year... hopefully.

Whether or not this will work depends on a number of things:

1 - You must use turn signal lamps, or non-polarized LEDs (will light up regardless of polarity)

2 - Your Tacoma parking light/turn signal circuit must be relatively stock. I don't know if this will work with flashback mods. It won't work with the mod that cross-ties the turn signal to the corner marker without some creative use of diodes.

    What it do?

It ties the corner marker and turn signal into the mirror turn signal.
    Truth table:
Corner off - Turn signal off = Mirror off
Corner off - Turn signal on = Mirror on
Corner on - Turn signal off = Mirror on
Corner on - Turn signal on = Mirror off

It uses the corner marker and turn signal to switch a pair of relays that operate like a 3-way switch in a hallway or large room with two entries.

When the corner marker OR drls are on, the mirror is on.
When the corner marker is off, the mirror light follows the front turn signal/DRL.
When the corner marker is on, the mirror light follows the inverse of the front turn signal, so you get an alternating flash between the two.

Two identical circuits are needed... one for each mirror.

Here is the 03 highlander defrost switch part # 84871-48030 you also may need to replace the bulb with a orange color to match the others, you also need the connector for the back of the switch plug. I have all my parts and getting ready to mod mine soon.

Check out the "El Cheapo" thread. It has pics and part numbers of both the switch and connectors.

Got mine installed today. I had prewired everything when I was doing another project so it was easy plug and play for me, after changing the mounts that is. I bought mine from AM-autoparts.com. So far they seem very well made, no shaking and solidly built (slightly lighter than the stock mirrors though). Waiting on my covers to get painted now.

Hey guys, I installed my OEM 4runner mirrors the other day and got a friend of mine to do the wiring, he's a car stereo installer tech, done a very neat job and had all the parts needed. I used the highlander heated switch, here's some pics...

This mod on the Tacoma looks amazing and very much OEM. Great mod guys.

I have a previous gen 4Runner (as in 4th gen not 5th gen 4Runner) and after seeing this thread I want to do this mod so badly on my 4th gen 4Runner.

    Any idea if the 5th gen 4Runner (2010-2013) mirrors will fit a 4th Gen 4Runner (2005 specifically)?

I love the foot lights on mines. As for the heated mirror function, decided not hook that up. Hawaii doesn't get cold enough to where I need to heat up the mirrors.

You can always use your existing bracket(part that connects to the door), and see if the current 4Runner mirrors connects perfectly with it.

Has anyone done or seen a write up on the 2012 trd sport mirrors onto a later model tacoma like a 2005? I have found the mirrors new for 75$ and want to try and install them into my 2005 tacoma. I would assume the mirror would just have to tap into the exhisting wires for the auto adjusting glass motors and then could tap into the turn signal wires? Any help would be great. Thanks.
