Detailed writeups would be critical but takes a lot of time. i definitely have some tips, but no time to go through all these. However, hope this helps with a visual though, or curiosity. My final amp install is not the most beautiful, but it hits hard now... Tuning is critical !

QUICK REVIEW
Cost "C+" : This shit added up quick.. it's not just the hardware, it's the cabling, connectors, wiring kits,Dash kits,baffles,screws, and any other tools you need.. This setup is definitely ended up well over $1k.

If Time is money to you, and have no experience like I did then get ready for some long nights... However, I got so much faster with each project. For instance, I have taken these doors off about 5-6 times and I am fast now, you get used to grabbing the same tools. i keep them all grouped by project and use my taco bed as a makeshift workshop.

Sound "A": I think 'sound' is personal, but I assure you that this system hits hard, across all genres.. I have had 'guests' in my truck now and they are impressed. But mostly, I love it. I have tested all genres except country. If you want to really really really bump, then get a 12" sub and 2 amps. For me, sometimes I just really want to bump, or jam hard to music, and this sytem lets me do just that... I'm fairly certain i'll end up with hearing aids in the future. If you need shit louder than this, then my hat is off to you ! I have no doubt, that with different setups you can get an unbelievable system that hits ridiculously hard.

The only thing I would consider changing is getting a 12" sub, for 1 lower note, but I am very very happy, and also proud that I did all this myself. I'd say this took me 40 hours at least.

Genre Factor:
I like mostly all genres. For Rap, this hits hard, if you like really deep bass, I say go for a 12" 13" shallow mount. If you don't mind missing some really really deep tones, then you'll appreciate the thump this gives.
For all other genres that don't have deep bass, you will be loving it. If you want to win the competition at the mall, this probably isn't it. If you want your shit to hit hard then this will help you reach your goals.


TUNING IS CRITICAL ONCE IT'S ALL SETUP... It takes time.. if you buy a marv box, I think he'll help you tune if you find time together via phone...
IT MATTERS 100% Very Important !!!!! I have had my setup sounding all the way from "complete horseshit-> to jaw rattling so it is key to the final touches !

• jvc kdavx44 HU
• Harness for JBL system-> Metra Axxess TYTO-01 I cut the hell out of this device. ONLY needed the plug in to the head unit cables. I ditched the lil black box and additional plug for signal cables because I ran my own... basically all I needed was red/yellow/black
• alpine pdx5 amp
• image dynamics ctx65s front components
• polk audio 6.5" db651s rears
• Custom ghetto rear baffles.
• image dynamics 10" idqv3 sub
• iPod kspd100 interface
• 64gb usb thumb drive for .avi movies
• kd hd300 hd radio interface
• pac audio swi-jack
• Raamat, ensolite for front doors(complete door), rear doors(x2 layer behind speaker only ) , back wall, maybe roof later...
• all new 16 gauge speaker wire ( 14 gauge for sub connections )
• monster rca
• Pretty sure it was: 4 gauge power and ground can't remember now. ( used sandpaper to scrub paint and mounted on back rail next to enclosure. The cable was fukking thick, damn near the same diameter as my thumb..

Yeah my PDX5 was rated at 104Wx4 and 400Wx1.

I'm happy with my setup, it will be even a little better at least once I get the tuning perfected. Although it's decently tuned right now. i've messed with tuning a lot and will some more..

 

I don't have it installed yet

I am building my sub box and amp rack to custom fit in the rear storage. I will hopefully be done by this weekend and then the install will come over time when I have the time. I have my deck installed (Alpine 9887) and I am also installing ID CTX 6.5" components up front and ID CTX 6.5" components in the rear. I will let you know once everything is done.

 

What are the internal dimensions of your box and the overall airspace inside before and after the subwoofer displacement?

I used to comepete in dB Drag a few years ago and I've been out of audio for a few years. Not having a system in either vehicle right now is killing me and I'm looking for ideas. Being 6'1 in a regular cab, it somewhat limits me in what I can throw in.
