Time to replace old torque wrench

Well I was checking Craig's list today and found a couple wrenches that caught my eye. I went and checked them out and ended up offering the guy $100.00 for both which was less than he was asking. He said yes and now I have to take back my new Sears 1/2" drive torque wrench and exchange it for the 3/8" drive. What do you all think? Mac #TW8150A (10-150 Ft/lbs), CDI #3002LDI (0-300 in/lbs).

That CDI is awesome. Not a whole lot of use for it, but it's great to have.
Like I said, I only use my in/lb 1/4" drive on cam bearing caps on my dirtbike.

Remember, in/lb to ft/lb is a factor of 12, so that CDI will go as high as 25 ft/lbs.

 

That's what I thought, I could not believe what he was asking for them. The moment I saw the Craig's listing I called, knowing someone had probably beat me to it, but I got lucky. He just listed them today. It is a small auto repair shop and I think he was in real need of the money. He told me he was selling them because he had another set and was thinning out those tools. He had the Mac listed for $50.00 and the CDI listed for $70.00.

Yeah, I was thinking about that, better to be sure. I took my 1/2" model back to Sears today and exchanged it for the 3/8" model. They have two 3/8" models, one a little shorter than the 1/2" with a range of 10-75 ft/lbs, and one even shorter with a range of 25-250 ft/lbs, WTH? Seems like the shorter one would be the 10-75 ft/lbs. I bought the 10-75 ft/lb model.

The product description is in error. It says "ft lbs" twice, but also just says "lbs".
The specifications indicate in/lbs.

 

You are right, I overlooked the other listed specs.

 

It didn't make sense... I can't imagine even applying 250 ft/lbs to a 3/8 drive, but the wrench rang a bell.... I have one, but usually use the 1/4" drive because it's lighter and I get a better feel for the fastener.

25-250 in/lbs in a 3/8 drive? That's 2-20 ft/lbs. It's good for spark plugs, valve cover, and oil pan bolts... as well as most other fasteners in the engine bay that take a 10mm socket, but other than the valve cover and oil pan bolts, very few of those are torque-critical (unless you are a gorilla).
