Lol is my truck that obvious? And can you imagine if another driver heard the honking? They'd be thinking "Wtf!??!"

Ben, x2 with Mike on they got to prove it. I have no experience with dealing with dealerships for service other than when my truck was still under warranty and I took it in for the 3rd member leak and they "topped" off the fluid for me and wanted over a grand to change out the seal.

For you photographers, is there such a place for a person to go in and try on a lens before purchase?

    crap bolted and welded together....
Most places that have them have demos. Just take your camera in when you look and test away.

You can rent lenses from Pro Photo supply.
I also have a friend over at Advance Camera who is a good guy. Ask for Jordan Sleeth. They don't have as much stuff, but he can do a good job with questions.

I got a voicemail from the service dept. He said they had to order some parts and will hopefully get them tomorrow, but it might not be done till Monday. He did say he will call me when it's ready, so that's a good indication that it will be covered.

Wish I could've talked to him to see what parts they are replacing and how/why they could've failed. Hopefully talk to him tomorrow to see what's up.

I did that when I was initially troubleshooting it. I was changing the driveshaft angle to see if it made a difference.

    I'm :jellydance:....

You should have convinced them to throw in an ARB. So it won't happen again... It makes perfect sense, right?

And they didn't slap you on the wrist for that?!? Damn. My power steering rack leaks like a bitch since 15K. They still refuse to fix it. I need to venture up to that dealership

I was surprised that it was so "painless". The service manager was making some worrysome comments like "it might be from the lift" and "I'll get you an estimate" but I just kept quiet and took the don't ask don't tell stance. He never gave me an estimate and no talk of money was brought up so I just left it at that.

I told the tech that I recently had the driveline balanced and I was messing with the angles. He agreed that after the lift, it's best to get the front and rear shafts as close to the same angle as possible with shims or spacers. He gave me some shit about my bashed-up skid plate and other damage, and one of the other techs told me to throw in a locker too. They were cool about the whole thing.

Honestly, I had already planned on them saying No Warranty and giving me a $2000 quote. I had a rear 3rd and ARB in my cart from ECGS just waiting for a phone call. It's hard to pull $1500 out of your ass though...it painful, unhygienic, and the g/f would not have been happy, so it's worked out for the best all around.

How hard is it to throw in a locker?
Do you need a new 3rd member or does the toyota e locker go right in?

    Depends...

Installing a locker requires setting up gears. Most people (99.9%) can't set up gears in their garage. Myself included.

Toyota E-Locker only fits in E-Locker rear end... so it's kind of a moot-point. Yes, you could swap an electric locker out for an ARB, but IIRC your gear ratio options are fairly limited to thick-cut 4.56s.

Got super fawking lucky and picked up a complete third - Tacoma (8.4" T100) ARB and 4.88s with 2,500 miles for less than half of new. It's waiting for me in my garage.

I think East Coast Gear Supply has a pretty good program... They'll setup a diff for you and you can use your original as a core ($200 back).

Swapping in a complete third is about a 2 hour job.

I'm going to 4.88s in the front, with no locker as well. Going to have Driveline Service in B'Ham do that. Way above my skill level.

    Here's some good reading material:

I'm just curious cuz I recently picked up a 92 tree bouncing rig. (Pics coming shortly) and want to put lockers in it.
