Here is my head unit, Pioneer AVH-P3400BH. The Scosche kit in flat black worked great, glad since I paid $60 for plastic. I have a 2012 standard cab base non-trd 4x4, only two speakers left and right front door. I added Pioneer 3 way TS-X150s behind the seat, space is limited. No sub, just wanted a well rounded sound. The three ways work well and sound good in a small space. Still need to run the speaker wire through the carpet.

I have the metra and my top left keeps on popping out. While I am driving, I used my hand to press it back down. I am thinking of using liquid nail to glue it on for good:mad:

For the guys using the metra kit, did you use the plastic clips from the package? I use them on the tops.

I also tried the Metra and found that it was a big old POS.

I got a Scosche kit. It has metal brackets and everything fits tight as original.

I have the exact same problem with the 2012 Metra Dash Kit, so flimsy and my bottom left keeps popping out and the clips are really easy to come off and get lost behind the dash... I cannot believe it, especially after spending half the day getting my AWSC finally up and running... dissappointing

Had liquid nail on the left tab last night. Placed blue tape to hold it for a few days :D

If it doesn't work, I yank it out and go with a different one:mad:

For you scosche kit guys, if you want gloss black, the dupli color perfect match black sand pearl seems to be the the perfect match with the factory parts. Just a thought.

I still think its moronic that they ONLY offer flat black.

Anyone try a double din pioneer with the Scosche? Just wondering if the same fit issues are present as they are with the Metra. I'm debating selling it and trying the Scosche with glossy paint route or dremel/sand down the edges to try to get it fitting in the Metra.

I have the gloss finish I still opted for the Scosche flat DD. Its a great fit and, IMO, matches quite well. The only gloss you can see is the little bit around the temp control knobs but the flat matches all the rest of the dash. For those of you wondering if the flat will look good on your once gloss,, it does,,, better IMO. I don't like shiny things at all.

I got the metra gloss for my 2012. it looks like a perfect fit. I don't know why people keep talking bad about them. however i'm a glossy fan not a flat paint fan.

Yes my pioneer avh p4400 did not fit in the hole of the metra, but i think they make it smaller to fit more radios. All I did was spend about 10 min with my dremmel tool and it fits and looks stock

I also used the metal factory brackets to hold the radio. And again yes, it did not fit perfect, but after taking it back out and bending the brackets a little, fits perfect.

The Gloss paint is also quite durable on the metra kit. hit it with a knife by accident and didn't take any paint off.

Yeah mine fit. Really glad cuz I like the glossy look too. The chassis of the radio won't go thru the hole, but when I bolted the radio in, the face was just the right size to pop through (face is smaller than chassis). Maybe cuz I don't have a folding face. I opted for the smaller screen with the larger buttons and disc drive that isn't hidden. In any case not perfect but looks good to me. I used the plastic brackets. Little flexy but oh well. Only complaint is that I am really pushing the limit on the radio depth.

Install done. Removing factory bezel from dash was a lot harder than removing scosche unit.

First mistake - mounting brackets to head unit instead of to the scosche dash kit first. Prevented head unit from sitting far enough forward, much confusion.

Second mistake - somehow 3 of 4 screws cracked the Scosche dash trim when screwing in. Dunno why, dunno how - made sure they were straight, went slow, from directly ontop. Didn't overtighten. They still hold strong, but when you hear the crack - I can't imagine it's preferred.

Third - included trim around double din unit still never fit around the headunit and between the scosche screw terminals on back of trim. I had a large gap beneath unit, found some black window air conditioner spongey foam to stuff in there and trim to fit.

Fourth - dash illumination will not control pioneer avh1400dvd. Screw it.

Fifth - removing the stock clock sucks. I got it popped mostly free and learned there was a screw somewhere beneath stock radio. Tried to remove stock radio from stock trim, there were clips and some rivet things. I unclipped everything and tugged, no dice. Broke clock out of factory radio bezel, broke some wimpy trim piece in process that was not required with scosche install. Whatever.

Conclusion: Should have been drinking the entire time during the install. My caveman intuition would have resulted in a more barbaric installation, same results, less time invested.

Sounds F'N awesome for stock speakers. Did parking brake relay mod, mainly because I had the relay AND didn't want to even fuss with parking brake in the dark. The instructions for that part are horse shit, no way was I going to disassemble more of my dash for a stupid parking brake. Took ten mins to wire up the spoof, haven't tested with DVD and likely never will but followed instructions online with standard radiosack relay (85/86/87/30, part number 275-001)

Thought about leaving pigtail for remote on for subwoofer amplifier, my next planned mod. Tested on stock speakers before pushing everything in.. Sounds so much better. When I install my component system i'm sure it'll be adequate, skip the problems of sub install in reg cab (and save $!)

Closing notes: Remember to plug everything in. I put my AC/heat knob panel back in before putting those 4 bolts in. Derp. Took back out, put four bolts in. Realized I forgot to plug in clock/flashers plug in. Doubletriplequadruplederp, had to remove everything and hook up. I don't even smoke weed anymore. Shit.

Goodluck. Scosche kit looks great, headunit mentioned looks tits if you use some foam behind the unit. Shitty Christmas eve with a great conclusion. 1.75L Sailor Jerry at hand, will wake up tomorrow and think Santa installed it!

Now that there's a good population for 2012 and up aftermarket radio stuff, what has happened to the existing factory Bluetooth, USB, aux, and camera? Just don't want to lose this stuff

5100's all around, OME 887 with 1/4" spacer, icon 3 leaf aal. 255/75/17 BFG KM's on 4runner pro's. Rigid led pods. Debadged and tinted.
A lot of that depends on what head unit you get.

My Pioneer AVIC-Z140BH has built in bluetooth, so the factory one is unused. USB/iPod are also through the Pioneer. The factory USB/Aux are unused.

The backup camera is through my rear view mirror, so it is unaffected.
