    thanks david.

i did mine a little different, hopefully i didn't mess anything up.
i used my tire jack right under the spring under the u-bolt bracket, jacked it up, took off the tire, lowered it a tiny bit onto my jack stands (on the frame), with weight on the stand and the jack, i took off the u-bolts, put on the new ones but just threaded the bolts on a bit, put another jackstand right under the spring itself, as close to the axle as i could, then slowly lowered the tire jack, the second jack stand holding the spring in the same positon, until there was enough room to slide in the block. then jacked it back up and tightened the bolts. threw the tires on, then re torqued the bolts again. is it possible to do them too tight? or is loose just what i would be worried about?
    little hint for anyone trying this on there own;
make sure you have a socket long enough for the new u-bolts before your tire is off and you're half done the job!! lol

super simple to do by the way, the scariest thing was wrenching under my truck with it on jack stands although i laid the tire under the frame as well just in case it decided to go down, could have helped, lol

thanks for all your imput guys, looks great, i'll post pic later.

Nice! I torqued mine to 90ft lbs. you don't want them under torqued! I looked real quick for ya and chris4x4 said he talked to Toyota techs and they said between 75-85 ft lbs. Make sure you drive for a bit(i drove about 15 miles w/a little rough terrain thrown in) and re-torque! If you don't have a torque wrench you can usually get a loner at an auto parts store at no cast. Post up some pics!

so here it is, it's hard to tell in the pictures but in person it looks and feels way better. now i don't feel like im pointing at the sky. it's only a 1" block but it makes a big difference in my eyes :)
so far it seems to drive great, so that's good.

    before adding the 1" block.......

5100's all around, OME 887 with 1/4" spacer, icon 3 leaf aal. 255/75/17 BFG KM's on 4runner pro's. Rigid led pods. Debadged and tinted.
Looks good! I just did the 1.5" aal to mine today. I couldnt stand the sagging rear end either.

Dont worry about blocks at all. I have a 1" block on my work truck. It is a Super Duty that weighs about 10k pounds with rigup and tools, and it drives in the dirt on average 60 milers per day with ZERO issues. Retorque your U bolts periodically, and drive it however you damn well feel like it! Everyone stresses out about lift blocks on here, when a lot of brand new trucks come with them from the factory?

    thanks.
im not to worried about the 1" block. i think most people are refering to the bigger 3"+ blocks. couldn't find any bad feedback the the 1".

I am getting the 1" block in the rear and the 5100's in front. Do I absolutely need anything else? Trying to roll 33" tires under this lift.

Also, what should I adjust the bilsteins to in the front for a lifted but level look?

thanks, im happy with it. it's hard to not want to go bigger and badder seeing some of the awesome trucks on here, but i wanted to keep it close to stock, just with a beefier look.

i think it depends what wheels you use and width. my tires are 265/70/R17's which i think are around or maybe a tiny bit under a 32". from what i can see, it might be possible to fit a 33" with my lift if i keep them at 265 on the stock wheels.

as for the lift, i used the 1.75" setting, and it leveled it perfectly by measurement, but to my eye, it looked like it was a little nose high, that's why i added the 1" block, now i think it sits perfect.

So how does the ride? I'm considering doing the 5100's at 1.75 and either the rear tsb if I can get approved, an aal, or doing the 1" block. I'm kinda leaning towards the block to keep the ride smoother. I'm just unsure how harsh the ride will be at 1.75? I've read mixed opinions. I have read that at .85 it rides better than stock.

ride is great, it doesn't even feel like there are blocks in the back to be honest, rides just like stock. the front is a little stiffer but it's not that noticable and the roads i drive on in this city are as bad as they get for pot holes and cracks. on a nice smooth road you can't even tell the difference. you could go either way on the setting, i was going to do .85 but thought it's not even an inch more so went up to the 1.75 setting, i haven't had any regrets. from what i have read, the off road seems to be more of a harsh ride than the sport with them set at 1.75"

I do expect a little stiffer ride as with any lift. Just don't want it too harsh, mostly to keep the wife happy. I'm kinda like you though, if I'm gonna do it why not do 1.75? .85 looks much better, but I love the look at 1.75. I've played around with the floor jack and measured. I could be content with .85 but 1.75 is what I really want. But again the wife already complains about it being hard to get in the truck now. And I have the factory step rails. Of course these factory rails are kind of awkward.

Bottom line is, keep the wife happy or have what I want? I wanted to do this before I even bought the truck. And I don't really want it any bigger. I've never been one to keep a vehicle stock. ;)

Here's some pics I took while playing with the floor jack. I couldn't get the whole truck in the pic from a side view since it was in the garage for the level surface.

    .85
    [IMG]

    1.75
    [IMG]

And when I say .85 and 1.75, I measured as close as possible at those specs. I have read that people have actually gotten 1" at .85 and 2" at 1.75.

Oh, was also gonna ask, did anybody do the spacer on the drivers side for the "Taco lean"? I'll have to measure again before I do anything, but last time I did my drivers side did sit 1/4" lower than the passenger in the front.

lol, i guess you'll have to decide what's best but the difference isn't very much.
i just put on some smittybuilt step sides, i love the look but there is no function! like you said awkward trying to use them.

i didn't bother with the spacer, i find it hard to even tell there is a difference without measuring, and to be honest, wouldn't even have known about it if i didn't read here. i think im about 1/4" different, not noticeable to me.

Ok so my wife just said she didn't care. That's all I wanted to hear. She usually lets me do what I want but just didn't want to be in the dog house. I just still have to decide, though I am leaning heavily toward 1.75.
