cvj axles. remember that group buy for those remanufactured axles from, here in denver? they use boots with less fins, so its less likely they touch, which in turn reduces wear and tear

So it appears OME stopped making the 882s and 883s now. they only make 880s and 881s, 880s being the light duty kit and 881s being the heavy duty kit. I just finished helping a friend install his kit and he wanted 883s cause he's planning on running a bumper. What arrived were springs clearly marked 881s and after contacting supplier we were informed of the changes and told the 881;s were the correct springs. Has anyone else run into these changes in the OME coils?

I call BS. Call Cruiser Outfitters. I know for a fact you can still get 882s and 883s from them and I spent all of last week with the owner down in Mexico and he didn't say a word about any changes to the OME lineup.

I'd also say it is BS. Last month I bought 882s from Wheelers.

882s Front & Dakar Rears - Nitrocharger Sports all around.

Some lift, some armor, some scratches..
If I swap out my 881s for 883s (no added weight up front right now) how will this affect my ride? Too stiff?? also because they are stronger coils will they give me more lift?

I am going to say yes, there will be a difference in ride. How much stiffer, only slightly. The 881's are 500 lb spring rating compared to 590 lb rate on the 883's. They provide the same lift height... i would only get those if you planned on adding weight

X2, if you just want more lift just get the 882's. They'll give you another 3/4 - 1" of additional lift.

The 883's are more for people with bumpers, winches and skids...however, m3bassman (sp?) runs the 883's without any of the aforementioned goodies. I'd shoot him a PM and see how he likes them.

I have 883s on a 99 v6 extended cab with a Shrockworks bumper only at this time. I installed after getting 234,000 miles out of my original spring and shocks.

At first, the height was a little high and felt stiff. But, I was comparing it to a completely dead suspension. After about 1000 miles, the ride has settled and the ride feels more bouncy. The only issue I have seen is losing grease out of my CV boots. I attribute this to the extra height and original CV boots that may just need replaced.

I plan on adding bud built skids, and a winch down the road. It will be interesting to see how these additions affect the 883 and the ride.

Also of note. My current daily driver is a 2010 sequoia platinum with the air suspension. Now, anything else I drive or ride in feels hard. My Tacoma does feel rough now, but I chalk it up to what I am comparing it to and the fact that at the end of the day, it is a 14 year old truck with 235,000 miles on it. It's not gonna ride like a Cadillac, that is for sure.

Are you running one of the OME shocks up front?

Speaking from the experience of running 650# eibachs, adding a winch and BB skids will definitely smooth out the front. I think you will like it. :D
