Your gonna shoot slugs out of a 28 inch smoothbore barrel? It can be done but do yourself a favor and get a shorter, 23-24", rifled barrel and you'll be better off. Even with turkey hunting with a 28 inch barrel it's harder to maneuver in the woods, and all you need is a good choke with the right shot.

m3bassman, I think you made a good decision on the 870. I finally got the Mossy out and put some rounds through it and, if you're smaller framed, the Mossberg has some pretty extended workings and I noticed the 535 seems to have a pretty long action. For me, I absolutely love it! The recoil pad really soaked up a lot of the kick. I put 15 buckshot magnum shells through it and don't feel sore at all. I was also shooting with the 28" barrel so the extra weight might have helped a bit :) Overall, I'm really liking the Mossberg and can't wait to get it in the woods.
