you need to be on the bony stuff that only 4x4 get to in the first place
for DAC to have something to do for ya...it is for stuff that you spend too much time
braking and crawling over...DAC takes the braking out for you by wailing on
the brakes for you. 4x4 down steeps causes a lot of lurching when there are
bumps and rocks and mud...without DAC you gotta work the brake and modulate
pressure (which is part of the fun of wheelin) DAC does this automatic crap for you
so all you do is steer at crawl speed

My main purpose was for the wife to use DAC going down the driveay. It sounds like that is not a practicle use though. As the truck is new, now I just want to make sure DAC works, even if I don't use it much. (and all the other setting too)
So..... for testing only, shouldn't DAC work then on any fairly steep downhill paved road?

Is your driveway that steep and long that going into low range then creeping down at 3 mph is really going to not be exhausting and time consuming? Is it so steep that if you are not ultra careful, there is a risk of going sideways and rolling? DAC is a creeping/crawling off road feature... you can press the button and it will be on standby, like A-TRAC and not 'wake-up' until you are pointed down, driving very slow, and your foot isn't on the brake or gas.

No....driveway is only 250 ft or so long with only about 100 ft steeper than normal (whatever that is). No bank so no risk of rolling. At the bottom of the steep part it takes a small curve. There is a tree at that curve that has been skidded into either fowards or backwars on three different vehicles now. Just thought DAC could maybe help the wife.

After we get up to the paved road, there is also a section going down around a curve that's kind of steep. Seen a lot of vehicles fail to make that turn in the snow. Turn the wheel, but the vehicle keeps going straight. It's a small road to a residential area, so everyone using it should be aware. They do sand it after they plow though. Thought it might help her out in that spot too, but it sounds like DAC is not really for snow or ice.

I'll just have to get out a play around with it......

Wait hang on, they are both priced the same, so I raise my finger in the air and am feeling which way the BS is blowing in this case.

    Yes they are..

I wasn't really aware that the locker ATRAC and DAC wasn't available on the Sport model when I purchased it, not only that, but I also wanted the long bed version... I am happy with mine but it would be nice to have a feature like that. And going back to what you said about color matched chit, YES, I highly agree, I am a color matching, no chrome junky sort of guy myself.

Lucky for me, its a lease... :D;)

It appears to me that the moral of this story is:

TRD Sport owners do the yellow wire mod or bust!

    Haha

Oh you can bet your butt I'll be transferring everything over if I actually do end up getting an OR model eventually, however, I do like the longer bed and as an overall I have had the same fantastic luck off road and on snow with my sport that the majority of OR owners seem to have with theirs. I've already put mine through some shit and it has hung in there perfectly and handled it all like a champ without any grief!

DAC is an off road driving system, as is the locker and A-Trac.

A decorative hood scoop and colored trim for sporty looks.

There is an Off Road package and a Sport package. If you want off road features then you don't pick the Sport. Shame on salesmen for not informing shoppers of the differences and shame on buyers for not researching the products too.
