My neighbor did a solar pump for his pond. He did it himself though. We have a really high water table so he just dug down like 15 ft and filled in with rock, the well. So the well was like a reverse leach line. He piped over to the pond about 500ft away. It wasn't impressive but kept the water level stable. Depends on how much your pond absorbs water. Might help to line the base with plastic.

cool, i'm not sure how deep the well is but the water was about 75 feet down (that was measured in the early 90's though)
we might have to line it, the creek holds water pretty well right now, so if we keep the different layers separate maybe we can keep that quality.

Back home you let hogs in where you want a pond and they roll around in the mud, this seals the pond. I wouldn't turn pigs out here but if you don't put plastic or quickcrete down you might rent a dirt packer from home depot.

i'll keep that in mind, we have a tractor with a bucket and a box blade, so if we have to line it we could could get some big rocks and put them on the liners edge, and but some sand on the liner
you know there gonna win anyway, theres no shame in rooting for the team you know is gonna win.

i think so, i'm gonna mess around with a topo map and show it to my cousins, we have the time and the resources so why not.

they want it to have enough water they could duck hunt off of it and enough water to bring other animals in.

Oh, ponds are awesome if done right, I've done 2, not real big the first one was 13ft x 25ft with a gradient of 6" to 2.5' with ledges & the other was a little bigger about 27ft x 60ft with a gradient of 6" - close to 5ft with spawning ledges sand for spawning beds too. It's real important to make it as environmentally complete as possible. I introduced moss snails & mosquito fish into it before the owner added other species

the problem with stocking it is the fish would just go downstream.

we have a stocked pond in mississippi and it's a lot of fun fishing it.
