So, about a week ago I took my truck off Road (through some mud and water) Like I've done several times before. After I was done I drove home, I cleaned my truck and sprayed water under the hood softly and indirect of any particular object to clean the engine.

My truck runs fine now (and it has) but when the truck idles it idles louder than normal and drives louder than normal... Any idea as to why this might be?

    Thanks,
    Cody

Either a exhaust leak or you crack your manifold when you sprayed the motor. Need to try and see if it coming from the front or rear. You should be able to feel it when you find it. Could be coming from anywhere, just have to check

Try washing around the motor mounts and the tranny mount, might be dried mud packed around them.

Nothing. It's the sound of grasping at straws.

Op: louder how? Engine noise? Rpm dependent? Does throttle pressure increase the noise? Is it a rhythmic noise?

You're not giving me much to go on

Transfers a lot more vibration to the interior, and noise comes from vibration. Any kind of exhaust leak won't be much louder at idle, more so under load. So, I guess now would be a good time for the OP to define "louder" a bit better. Is it louder outside the truck, or more engine / road noise inside the truck?

    No actually.
Some things play out well in your head but just don't apply in the real world.
Packed mud on a motor mount making the truck louder is one of those things.

That's not the issue here (nor would it be anywhere)

To try to explain why that logic is wrong would be more ridiculous than the original assertion.

    Lets move on.

I mean we all know how it works.

Dude sees thread, dude wants to post something and just blurts out some random nonsense into said thread. Thread dies. OP gets no help.

If OP can provide more details we can get this figured out quickly. The end fix wont involve adding mud, removing mud, a tinfoil helmet or a 7th grade science book.

Your ingnorance is outstanding. I've had that exact issue in several vehicles over the years, a quick pressure washing around the mounts cured it until the next spring break-up. But of couse, you would know better.

    Sure. Cool.
Your mud made the vehicle louder.

I have ran many different kinds of mounts, solid, poly, welded straight to frame, and about the only thing your going to get is vibration.

Exactly. Which can be confused for noise but in fact is vibration.

To go a step further, the yota mounts are soft. Way soft.
    Dried mud is not flexible.

My ignorance my be overwhelming but my practical knowledge is equally so.

Dried mud breaks and crumbles! Especially if it has something flexing against it!

It sounds like it has to do with the RPM and it is definitely coming from the front. The RPMs are not any different than when the truck didn't have this problem. And the noise does increase with throttle pressure.

Ok. It's possible that the hot manifold in the cold water did not mix.
It's very likely you now have an exhaust leak.

Is the noise a rhythm that increases in frequency as rpm increases?

Can you post a video of the motor running?

Too many to list, and I've probably forgotten a bunch.
Two things, from experience, come to mind.

First, check to see if you *broke* a motor mount. That can cause this symptom.

Also, check to see (especially if the water was deep enough) if you broke a fan blade off the fan. That can unbalance the motor and cause more vibrations.
