:woot: having my 285/75/16's installed tomorrow...just in time to head out to flagstaff for the new year and test em out in the snow. hopefully they won't rub too bad. won't have time for the cab mount chop or trimming before this trip, but expecting to have to do some when i get back (already ordered cmc plates from bamf) had em on my '07 for about 4k miles before i traded it in for my '11. loved em while i had em and my buddies got 45k miles on his on his 4runner and they still got like 40% tread left.

just read your post after writing my post. as far as feeling loose in turns, I was running that size on my 07 and my buddy runs the same on his 4runner. they do have more body roll than the stock tires, but again...you're buying an off road tire for a truck...so high speed turns on pavement should be down a little on your list of concerns. they are phenomenal in the snow, do just fine on the highway at high speeds, just have more sidewall flex than the standard "rugged fails"

good luck with your decision. i know i'm excited to get mine tomorrow

Like Ryan said, they are going to have a bit more body roll than your stockers, but part of that will be attributed to going up a size. There's no need to be concerned with highway handling, they will handle just as well as what you have now, if not better.

Ever since they were introduced they have had lots of complaints of squishy sidewalls, but most all of those complaints are from full-size truck owners. Our trucks aren't heavy enough to cause those issues.

BTW, if you have been happy with your stock BFG's, you will LOVE Duratrac's.

Simply put your going to give up some on road handing and quietness for excellent off road and snow performance! Maybe you would prefer BFG AT's! They're somewhere between the two IMO. Just throwing it out there cause I had 3 sets of BFG AT's on my 99. Loved them but the Duratracs out perform them in every way except on road. But the AT's do pretty well off road too.

When I first switched from the RT tires to 265/75/16 Load Range C Duratrac's, I did notice a little wobble at 55 MPH+. I ended up putting a little more air in them (42 front/35 rear) and that helped a lot. I can cruise at 75, and they handle just fine. They are somewhat noisy compared to the stockers, but they aren't that bad and they do great in the light mud a get into occasionally when I go four wheeler riding. After nearly 28,000 miles they still have lots of tread, but I've noticed they spin a little more when starting on wet roads. Every tire I've owned has done this after some miles though. I'd say I'll get 45-55,000 miles out of these since I rotate them every 5k, and would recommend them if you need something a little more aggressive than a standard AT, but don't need a true MT. My next tires will also be Duratrac's.

Also, trailer towing has been fine too. I've got a 16' double axle utility trailer and haul a ATV and sxs on it (total weight is around 3800 pounds.

Sweet! I'm curious how the fitment / rubbing is with those wheels. Are you running the stock UCA's?

Stock UCA's for now, though I will get some proper ones as soon as I can save up the extra cash. As far as rubbing goes, had to trim the inner fender well a bit. Only needed to trim them a little for clearance but then took more off cause they were flapping in the wind. Ordered some BAMF cab mount chop plates before the tires were even installed assuming that would need to be done. Doesn't appear so, but I haven't flexed it out yet and thats when I suspect it will rub.

Mine thoroughly impressed me this weekend. Powering through the snow keeping up with everyone that had aired down. All the while I was running 36psi! Love them!

Thats cool. I'm still running the stock UCA's but I've got 265's and 2.5" lift so I'm fine with them. How close is the tire to yours. I may get a set of those wheels if I can find them. When you get around to it take a few more closeup pics of the tires wheels / clearance please. Was the Blower installed when u bought it? When I find the suitcase of $$ I'll get that too! Sweet Truck. Happy New year everyone. :)

Thanks. Blower was installed before I picked the truck up from the dealer (they had to be sneaky cause they're not supposed to do that). Good luck on finding the suitcase of $$$, I haven't found mine yet. I'll try to remember to snap some pics of clearances tomorrow after work. I need to get in there anyways to trim some more off the inner fender since its still flopping in the wind while on the highway. And a happy new year to you as well and everyone else as well!
    :)

Thanks :) Yeah cost me a pretty penny for sure, but its all worth it. My plan for it is to be the ultimate do all be all truck. Something that can crawl through some pretty gnarly stuff, nothing insane, but do its part, and be able to hit the desert at an ok pace, while still being a good DD and be able to haul my toy hauler out to the desert. LOL I'm not asking too much am I?

Anyways, here's some pics of tire clearance to uca's and cab mount and what I've trimmed so far from the fender well

Yea same story for me! So far it's done everything I've asked of it. To stay true to the thread - we got the right tires for a go anywhere do anything truck. Although the trailer plug got tweeked on the rocks you see in the sig. It wasn't funny because I had to get the trailer home from Big Bear the next day! Nothing a little duct tape couldn't fix temporarily. Move that thing up and out of the way if your in big rocks! Trust me it was a $160 boo boo. :( Nice pics

yeah on my old '07 tacoma, i ripped the trailer plug right off going through a big dip. I plan on relocating everything once I build me a proper rear bumper.

Thread related...My buddy just turned over 45k miles on his set of Duratracs on his 4runner last weekend and they still look like they've got about 40% tread left. good mileage if you ask me considering I got under 30k out of the stock rugged fails. Though I do drive much harder than him (partially to having fun with the trd blower) and tow more often and more load than him, if I turn even close to that many miles with my set I will be thoroughly pleased.:burnrubber:

Has anyone tried fitting 15x8 wheels on the 33x12.50R15's before? Website says they recomend 8.5-11 inch wheels but I think I remember seeing someone have duratrac's on 8 inch wheels.
