    Anyone had an alignment done and been told that they need to use a "true align" system which costs more due to the aftermarket wheels/tires? Shop told me that my rim won't accept a standard alignment rack setup but luckily my tires have enough lip so they can still do it the normal way, but said if I ever get different tires with a smaller lip that its and extra $50 every time to use a "true-align" setup.

    Might have a bad ball joint :( or a strut mount bushing. Trucks up on the rack now getting checked out and aligned.

    Truck is fixed :taco:

    Got the lifetime alignment at Firestone and this is the first time my truck actually drives straight after only 1 try on the rack. Took the dealer 3 tries and my steering wheel was still crooked. I live within walking distance of the Diamond Bar location but opted to go to Chino Hills due to better reviews. Was a good decision. They also reset the sensors for free so my light is off and no more issues with ABS, Trac, or LSD. Could have been much worse I suppose. Total cost was $200 flat, but had some other routine maintenance done as well.

    But I do have a loud clunk/popping sound coming from the front end. Only happens after switching to reverse and applying the brakes for the first time, or switching to drive and applying the brakes the first time. Everyone said this is the brake pads slipping, but I confirmed that this was not the case. The noise is possibly a ball joint popping or a bad strut mount bushing. I need someone else to help me figure it out. Or maybe a GoPro. Anyways... all good now :D

    Jack up the front end of the truck so that there is about a 1 1/2" gap between your tire and the ground. Then grab a long pry bar or something similar and pry up on your tire, this will show you if you have a bad ball joint or wheel bearing.

    Its a 6 channel, 120 watt kit. Came with 6 bulbs, wires, transformer and a switch box. I dissected the switch box, took the momentary switch and put it in one of the blanks and then used a Toyota rocker switch for the power.

    When the truck was on the lift today I had the guy pull on the tire from top/bottom and side/side. There wasn't any major noticeable play in the wheel. He said wheel bearing were fine, but its possible that the ball joint is gone.

    Just weird rhat it only happens during the first time I apply the brakes after switching from R-D or vise versa. Never does it any other time. I know it seems as though its the pads sliding around but its WAY too loud for that. Sounds like a metal "clunk-clunk" or pop. I need someone more experienced with this to listen to it for me.

    If I got new UCA's, does that automatically replace my ball joints then? Like the LR ones? Noob questions :sorry:
