went to one sunday, no 4wd 79s... did you know that ford used like a fake solid axle in the 80s and early 90s??? I couldnt believe it... all the broncos and 250s had these split solid axles...

oh and the guy had them advertised for 1000 on keystone krawlers, so i PM'd him on TTORA and i guess the ad was old or something, said he wasnt "actively" trying to sell, and since has been trying to talk me out of buying them

i understand why, they are ideal

"Twin traction beam" is the term for it. Abbreviated "TTB".

Maintenance on the the stock setup blows as they eat radius arm bushings, but modify them a bit and they get some absolutely sick travel offroad. They're also strong as hell for an independent suspension which is why so many desert mini trucks are Rangers.

For long-travel it's great because with the pivot points so far from the wheels there is little wear on the axle pivot points. Replace the stock radius arm setup with some quality heim joints and you're looking at some serious travel numbers.

It actually works pretty damn well maintaining 4wd with mad travel, but most desert guys do run just 2wd for ease, weight, maintenance, etc.

dont know yet.. id rather keep it simple, but with 40s that might be easier said than done

steering is one of my biggest deterrents right now; if i can figure out a solution to this it will ease my mind

plan is to get the axles, get them disassembled, clean them all up, figure out what i need to replace, and go from there
