Here is my mostly stock Ruger 10-22 Takedown Model. Love this 10-22!
Just has a red dot scope, but it is so fun to just point and fire
I bought it before the Taco, and I was psyched that it fit behind the rear passenger seat!
I have it set up for squirrels, because they're the biggest nuisance at family ranch, and we don't want to poison them, so target practice it is. I bought my Dad a 10-22 set up with scope, i'll take a picture next time at the ranch.
I also own my first rifle, a Ruger 10-22, that my Grandma Maga bought me for my 11th birthday, 29 years ago. I shot close to or over 1,000,000 rounds out of that baby, but it has a pretty good size crack in the main assembly, so it is just to look at now, i'll take a picture next time.
Pictures were upright on my computer, don't know why upside down, this is my first attempt at loading pictures to the site, and then linking them to the reply.

    Can I get a real-world suggestion on a reliable 25 round magazine for a 10/22.

My son's was a jam-o-matic with about 1 in 10 jamming. I soaked his Butler Creek 25 round mag in trisodium phosphate and hot water solution over night. Since you can't take it apart to clean, this was a last ditch effort. It went through 50 rounds with only 1 jam now. I still don't like it.

How reliable are the Ruger brand magazines?

a lot better. any magazine with the metal feeder ramp is going to be the best thing to get. Those butler creek ones are plastic. always trying and find the metal feeders.

Thanks. My son's Butler Creek does have steel feed ramps. My gripe is that you can't take it apart like the Ruger. This makes cleaning difficult.

I was thinking about the Ruger BX-25 x2 magazine. This is the one that is basically 2 25-25 rounds sandwiched together. Great for rabbit hunting.

yeah not really much you can do with the butler ones. just soak them in oil and hope it helps. but the ruger bx mags are a lot nicer. never had any issues with mine. i have both the bulter but with the plastic feeder and than the ruger bx

The Ruger 25 rnd mags are mostly reliable, and they can be taken apart to clean. I use the tactical innovation mags but they are $70

Ive got 2 different butler creek steel lip mags and one of them is a lot more reliable than the other. Its kind od a smoked color (maybe its just dirty idk!) but the smoked one has a nice snug fit and has never had problems. The newer one has jams every now and then.

I havent had a chance to use the ruger 25 rounders yet.

How difficult and expensive is it to make one of these all "tacticool"?

I know that's a very broad question. I would just want it to have a nice stock, 30 rd magazine, foregrip and site.

Forgive my ignorance, I own pistols but have no experience at all wih rifles

great! thanks for the heads-up. I'm looking into them now.

So basically the barreled action comes out and literally gets put into a new body?

Yup. It grabs the bottom of the magazine and has a tension screw. Really great idea IMO. I have two of them. Makes the gun a little more "flush" for table or benchtop shooting. I can sometimes use the magazines to rest the gun on.
