OEM roof rack problems

    Some how the passenger side thread is gone off my roof rack. Noticed when i was driving and it was making a awful rattling. How can i go about fixing that? The roof rack is still secure just the cross bar has nothing to screw it down to.

    i bought my roof rack from a fellow tw member and i ended up going to ace hardware and buying stainless and used thread locker to hold in place..but other than that.. i would expect you would have to to go to dealer...

    Yeah i still have the bolt but the nut or thread part in the base is gone. Some I'm thinking it's some how still in the base some where. It really can't fall out.

    yea then i guess i would take it all apart and look for it.. guess only option

    Yeah. I was trying to avoid doing that. But it is what it is. I was just hoping for a better solution:(

    worse case if u can't find it .. "drill" a new hole.. but i would be hesitant to do that

    Yeah i don't know how that would work out to well. Maybe i can just take it off and get an after market one

    You could try to find a new bolt that is the same length just larger girth and re-tap the area that it screws into. Another option would be to find a nut that it the same threading as the bolt and JB Weld it into place.

    Do you have any pics, that might help us think of ideas to repair it.

    No i don't have any pictures but i can probably take some when i get home if it's not to dark. It's weird how it just disappeared though.
