passenger seatbelt light?

is there any way to turn off the passenger seatbelt light that flashes on the dash if they dont have the seatbelt on??? i thought about lookin under the seat if theres a plug and unplug it...

 

why would you do that! click it or ticket!... jk.. i have no idea..

 

Pull the light out? Look into the removal of the radio bezel, climate controls come out easily with a flat head wrapped in tape, radio bezel comes off with 4 10mm bolts, you'll see the box.

Or, i'm sure you could cut the ground wire to it... I'll look it up, give me a couple mins.

Keep in mind, I think theres two sensors in the seat.



EDIT: Theres only one sensor, the other is the seat belt sensor. DO NOT DISCONNECT the sensors. They're tied in with the airbags in the schematic. Since schematics do not break down each wire, I cannot guarantee that the airbag will deploy. Pull the radio bezel, and look into the back of the light. I feel that as long as there is more than two wires coming out of that light assembly, you should be ok by simply pulling the light bulb. That would be my suggested route. Lightbulb out, problem solved, while everything should still work fine.

My solution is slam on the brakes and have the passenger fly into the dash/windshield. Doesn't work as well on the tacoma as it did in my g35 and 3000gt, but it got the point across and they belted up.

 

Not to be a dick or anything but,why dont you just buckle up? It takes no time and saves lives.

 

Don't use a screwdriver on the ac bezel. Pull the left and right knobs off and
use something with a hook and pull. You'll be pulling at the area of where the
removed knobs.

 

If you use the code to turn off the beeping reminder sound does it also turn off the flashing light reminder?

I havent turned off my passenger side but I have disabled that annoying beeping sound from when the seat belt isnt fastened on the drivers side


i read this on here somewhere.
1) Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of seconds.
2) Make sure seat belt is not fastened
3) Turn the ignition back on, do not start the car (Leave you foot off the break) As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12 second count.
4) Keep your finger on the trip reset knob. Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt.
this works for the driver's side. for the passenger do the same but have sit in the passenger seat

 

get in there and put some electrical tape over the LED that lights the seat belt light.. DONE.

But.. yah, just buckle up.

 

x15 on buckling up. I require it because it's a law in PA punishable by fine. I would not allow someone to force me to speed and I will not allow someone to risk getting me a seatbelt ticket.

They can live as dangerously as they wish...so long as it does not cost me $$$.

 

C'mon guys, he's not talking about NOT BUCKLING UP. Quit giving him shit for it. He's annoyed by the light flashing when he puts something with any weight in the passengers seat. We all know that sensor is very sensitive, the slightest thing sets it off.

wcm608, I'm sure that works, but theres nothing wrong with the screwdriver method if you use a very small one thats taped. This is the way its prescribed in the service manual. I've pulled mine out over half a dozen times so far and I have absolutely no marks on it.

 

Depends where you live, in Alberta (not sure about the rest of Canada) if the passenger is over 18 and not buckled up, they get the ticket. If they are under 18, the driver gets the ticket.

 

you could just unplug the plug under the seat and ground it out..

 

Have you actually tried this? I'm looking at the schematic, and IF it follows the rules of schematics, then if you ground it out the light will ALWAYS be on. The sensor is a normally closed switch, it opens when you sit in it.

 

One way to find out! ground it out using a jumper wire on the negative side terminal and if it still blinks, then make a wire into a loop and hook that wire from one terminal to the other. One of those two ways will stop the blink, and neither will harm anything.

 

You could try to go to a junk yard and get a seatbelt buckle out of a wreck. Just click it in and the light and alarm should go out. I have heard people who have dogs that sit in the front seat doing this.

 

Meh, as an electronics tech, since I don't have a wiring diagram, and only a schematic, I can't really go with ya saying "it wont harm anything". Its on the same circuit as the airbags powerwise.... while its not on the same string, I can't verify how it will affect the airbags deployment. Sure it looks okay, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I still think, while not as 'simple', pulling out the lightbulb is the safest most logical way to do this.

 

eh, works for me. I dont think the air bag would be connected to if the passenger has a seatbelt on or not.. BUT better safe than sorry

 

Umm don't you have a key lock on your dash that can turn the airbag off?
Maybe it turns the seatbelt light off too. Just a thought, especially if the sensors are run with the airbag.

I don't even worry about it though, at least it's not like the prius/corolla and beeps for 30 seconds
